Narrowly avoided a wreck yesterday. Sometimes, around 5pm, you just have to jump out in traffic. no biggie, its an everyday thing, except when you take off in "first gear" (cvt, tiptronic mode) and all of a sudden, the damn Jeep wont accelerate past 10mph for 5 seconds, meanwhile you have a giant truck bout to make a little Patriot it's dinner. This happens quite frequently when I leave my drive, and I always figured it was because the engine had just started and it was to prevent over-revving before the lifters were properly oiled up( or something like that). But no, the engine was at running temp. I had been driving all day with no problems(other than it studdering on takeoff like usual) does this happen to anyone else, or is it just me? absolutely no lights turn on when this happens btw. also worth mentioning i'm 2 oilchange cycles overdue(im so lazy sometimes.)

same thing happended in my 07 with only the L gear. i was in that, jumped out in traffic and speed up slower than grandma going to church. hit like 10-15mph (very slowly) and then creation said vtec kicked in lol. is it a problem or more or less a glitch in this shotty designed vehicle. that i love...

I think its a failsafe for the tranny. Happens to me every day when I leave my driveway. If im in D it never happens, but i almost always drive autostick. 2 times it almost got me creamed when i was jumping out in busy traffic. It's actually the jeep limiting the throttlebody to like 10% until you hit 2500 rpm. I'm almost at the point of rigging a damn throttle cable to the thing. But as for it being a failsafe, i can make it do it if i a jerk the jeep around in 1st "gear" right after starting it. Usually only happens if its been sitting for a while. To bypass it just pop in Neutral, floor it, and back in drive. Yea, that used to be a big no-no with traditional automatic trannys, but we are limited to 3k rpm, and it only lets the cvt ease into gear, rather than it slamming into gear. Chrysler pretty much made it safe to do that. It'll save your ass when you got a bigshot ******* barrelling up your ass in his rediculous dodge cummins...

I was going to say I have an issue with your term of limp mode, since I associate that with the yellow transmission light, and believe me its even worse the the video you show.

So this is when using the D mode, and its not happening in autostick mode?

Here is a take off from my old patriot

Watching this the damn thing actually takes off really quick almost more so than my 2012, this video was taken a while ago but I believe I was at a dead stop, regardless it's way different than yours.

This doesn't show rpms but it takes off quicker than yours as well.

If I get a chance to escape parenthood I will take a video of my 2012.

my problems dont happen in D mode at all. only when I am shifting it manually. Like I said, i think it's the computer trying to save the tranny. when it gets single digits cold, it wont even let me shift the transmission. It has to warm up around a couple blocks before it lets me put it in any simulated gear.
