As of right now i have a 10" sub box. it kinda takes up a lot of space in my truck and i am looking for something better (more subs and more power) and i want all the space in my truck to be open. i like this idea but i have a rear cargo mat from weathertec and it would cover the subs.

i am really looking for ideas, if anyone has any ideas please tell me. i am open to anything.

I have looked at doing something similar in my Pat. I like the idea of getting the space back but not the idea of having to move my spare tire. The setup I currently have would no doubt REQUIRE that I remove the spare tire in order to have enough air space. I currently have a 4th order box ported back. I painted the entire thing with rough coat fence paint in order to take some abuse. Has anyone here seen any major performance reductions from not having the bass fire towards the hatch?

I need 100% or the room. I put the seats down alot so I want ALL the cargo area. But thanks for the suggestion. Right now I am looking at making a big box and putting it were the spare tire was. Then I would port the box and have the port go into the cabin.

right now i am looking at doing this but without the spare tire in there. i will use the extra room for more space in the sub boxes. http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8124&page=6
but i plan on having two different boxes for each subwoofer. i was wondering if the metal rod that goes threw the spare tire is able to be removed? it would make box alot less complex.

One thing to consider is with the air pressure coming from the wheel well, your going to cause the tire door/latch start to rattle a lot. I would recommend putting dynamat or something similar all around that wheel well to absorb some of that and figure a way of securing that door as well. I don't know a lot about off-roading but I do know quite a bit about car audio (;

So what are you trying to put in there? I know you said you had a 10 and were looking for more power. You could do a single DVC 12'' subwoofer with a good ported box and you would be good. I would suggest getting a marine grade subwoofer however, by placing the sub there you run a higher risk of liquid and other stuff getting down into the sub. I know you said you have a weathertec matt but I have the mopar jeep matt and ive still seen sand and liquid get down in the wheel well. Good call on the dynamat I sprayed expanding foam all throughout the trunk of my 300 and then ligned it with dynamat.

I want two 10"s because they will hit great and sound krisp. I would like to have a good cover over the subs so the sound comes threw and the sub is protected from the elements. I was thinking of the material that is used on our stock speakers that go on top of them. Its is a black cloth like material. Anyone know where to get it?

Space is discovered where it was all along

Hi, I need the space for a different purpose and my hearing is perfect so I do not share your goal, but when I was looking for the space I searched in google images for the "right rear quarter paneling" or some other similar phrase and all sorts of pictures come up. Here is a sample leading back to this forum.

The rear liftgate has plenty of empty space in it. The left side is much used up due to the fuel tank line. Above on the overhead there is space for some type of rack. To get an idea look up "gun racks". I believe any mod should add to the vehicle without taking away any functionality it already has, so the back seat should remain as is. Build around it. Hope it helps. Chief.
