Yesterday I hit the trails a little, and came across a small waterhole hole. Upon looking at it I decided it wasn't to deep. Anyway I drove through it and right when i got out my 4WD disengaged and the 4WD! light came on. I restarted the car and it was still on and about 10 minutes later it went off and never came back. Is this something I should worry about?

Do you mean the 4wd engaged while you went thru the puddle and the light came on?

When the light is on the 4wd is on when the light is off the 4wd is off

Did you get any water in the Jeep? Sounds like some water got in a plug. Check the e-clutch in front of the rear diff. Might want to give it a good cleaning and a shot of silicone.

Make sure nothing stuck under the 4WD switch and held it up. I've had this happen with my audio cable from the iPod to the radio before. I pulled the lever up, the cable slipped between the handle and center console and kept it held up. After a few minutes the 4wd! light came on and scared the heck out of me. Some folks throw change in that little depression and that may have got in the way. Does it still turn on and off now?

Well... We have a winner down the road after the light went off I noticed my aux cord was under the lever. Funny it happened to be right when I drove through some mud.

LOL! Well, at least that's fixed now!
