ABS / Traction Warning Lights... wheel sensor?

Hey guys,

I have a 2008 Jeep Patriot 2.4 w/ 5-Speed. About 2 months ago, I was on a business trip and my wife's Patriot started flashing the warning lights for the ABS / Traction Control. Since she couldn't get a hold of me, she freaked out and took it to the dealer. They immediately replaced the ABS computer and charged her $700+ bucks. I found out a few days later and knew immediately that we got shafted because the ABS computer RARELY goes bad. I immediately assumed it's probably something wrong with one of the ABS wheel sensors. Sure enough, a week later, the same thing happened. We were actually in the middle of a move, so it's not like I could just take it back to the dealership 900 miles away.

Anyway, I'd like to just go ahead and order the replacement ABS sensors, but it doesn't seem like anyone sells them? I just went to Rock Auto, and they only list one, for the right rear wheel and they list it for $186 bucks!!!

Am I missing something? A friend of mine just ordered a set of 4 for his Jeep Liberty (2005) and they were like $15-20 each.

Do you guys know where I can find these? Any help would be appreciated.

One other thing, I'd like to order a couple of interior replacement parts, the shifter to console boot, and the shift knob are all broken and worse for wear. Is there a decent online Chrysler parts seller that I can just get the part number from and order it directly? I really don't have the time to drive to a dealership, wait in line, order the parts at full price, and then have to drive back again to pick them up when they finally come in.

Thanks!!!

There is also a splice that goes bad in the wire harness along the drivers floorboard. It's along the side kick panel somewhere, a two into one splice that corrodes.

Thanks! I really appreciate it, I'll check that out!!!

I did notice that on some days, it would work fine, while others, it wouldn't work at all. And then... sometimes it would be working fine, and then start to fail after about 30 minutes. That led me to believe that it COULD be an issue with a failing ground or something (possibly at one of the sensors). I'll definitely check this out...

thank you!

Wish I could, but I started a new job over 1000 miles away and had to leave immediately since she got it back literally the day before I arrived to drive up to our new home... so.. :( unfortunately I can't.

That's why I was so frustrated when I knew she had just shelled out money for a new ABS computer.

I had a 2007 Patriot fwd and it was throwing an abs code C1014, first thing I did was to replace the front left abs sensor and problem was not fixed, then I replaced the front left wheel bearing and problem was solved. It was my personal experience with a 2007 Jeep Patriot, I hope someone else can solve this anoying problem if your Jeep is throwing the same code.
