Finally got it in. A lot of people said they thought it would be too big for the patriot, but I think it's pretty good.

Crossbars?

Which crossbars are you running? Yakima or Thule? Or? Looks good. I bought a used basket and it had the 19" extension, trying to decide if I want that length up there. Since it was used it has some rust and I need to reassemble it after painting it, so if I put the 19" in it may have to stay since there were a few 'rough' spots under the 'surface rust'.

I am running Thule Crossroad 450's for my mounts and may set up as semi-permanent so when I take off the bars the basket will stay mounted. I should also be able to use it on my Liberty if I space it correctly.

Looks good though!

It is big, but it's not too big. I figured if I went with the Loadwarrior, I would definitely have to get the extension at some point. The price of the Loadwarrior + Extension is more than the MegaWarrior. Now, I really don't have to get the extension. I've figured out the dimensions and I will doubtfully ever need the extension.

I got the Yakima Railgrab kit. It was $180 and included 2 pairs of the railgrab mounts and the 58" load bars, so it's a lot cheaper than buying them separately. Alone, the bars make a lot of road noise. With the basket, it makes little, if any, noise.

I used to have a Jeep Liberty. It had more cargo space, but with the amount of camping I do, I wish I had bought the basket earlier. I have two dogs, a St Bernard and a 40 lb mutt (both rescues!!), so I always felt bad driving almost 4 hours to camp and making them share the back seat. Now, if I do it right, I can put my junk on the roof, and one can get the back seat and the other can get the trunk area.

The width of the MegaWarrior is the most important aspect to me. Gone are the days where I cram all my junk in the front seat, get near the campgrounds, and make my girlfriend sit with all the firewood in the passenger footwell. I should also not have a gross leaky cooler in my car, leading to a soaked floor mat.

Roof rack, with the amount of camping and hiking I do, is an awesome choice. My only issue is that Yakima nickel and dimes you for everything, eeeeeeverything. $180 for the railgrab kit, $350 for the basket, $55 to lock and secure the crossbars, $60 to lock and secure the basket, $50 for the cargo net for the basket. After spending $530 just to get the basket and the crossbars, should you have to pay another $115 just so it cant get stolen? And should you have to pay $50 just so your crap doesn't end up all over the highway? All in all, almost $700 for a well functioning roof rack!

My Rola is not as wide but its definitely as long, if not longer. Looks good, I use my roof basket all the time, its great for when you don't want to put anything dirty inside the Jeep.
