I tried the all 4 window down function with my remote and it doesn't work.:(

The other day I saw a 2011 or 2012 Patriot making a right turn and its right headlight was off. As soon as it made the turn and the signal light went out the headlight came on. I have heard that more and more cars up here in Canada are being set up this way. Any confirmation of this feature south of the border or around the world? Sadly my 2010 does not have this feature.:(

I think this is a safety feature with so many bulbs within the same lens, and that they lights are more straight ahead than flood.

I wonder if we can retro-fit?

Saw the same thing yesterday on a new(er) Pat. personally i don't like it, but...

Yep! I tried both the remote and the key--neither worked. And the Patriot's key turns counter-clockwise to unlock, so this article is flawed..

"...In some cars, instead of using the remote, you can insert your key in the door lock and turn it clockwise, release, then turn it clockwise again and hold. Turning the key counterclockwise will usually raise the windows back up..."

I recall seeing a VW commercial--Jetta, I think...that with a series of key twists you could roll down selected windows. When the bug gets home tonight, I'll get it a try. Watch this space for further developments!

OK! Just tried the VW. Remote doesn't do anything, but the key trick works! And if you have dark seats, just getting the windows down before you enter the car can be a great thing!

Mine does it. On the 2011+ Patriots they use the new Chrysler DRL. With headlights on all the way it does not happen, but with DRL's on the light near the active turn signal goes out. I wish I could disable my DRL's without pulling the ebrake up a notch

Has anyone confirmed this at night?
When the lights are turned on manually iit should override the DRL feature so a light doesn't go out while in a passing lane correct?

Sorry, thought I stated it earlier but it wasn't clear. When the headlights are manually turned on the lights work like any normal Jeep, and the DRL off with signal is disabled

Could the owner's manual for the 2012 be more obscure about the DRL behaviour?

Daytime Running Lights — If Equipped
The high beam lights will come on as Daytime Running
Lights (DRL) at DRL intensity (lower), whenever the
ignition is ON, the engine is running, the headlight
switch is off, the parking brake is off, the turn signal is
off, and the shift lever is in any position except PARK.

They could have made it clearer by saying "Oh, by the way, when you signal a turn - that headlight will go out and oncoming traffic will see you as a one-eyed winking jack until the turn is completed".

My question is: does the headlight turn off when you use the lane change flash 3 times feature?

Yes. Any time the turn signal is on, the headlights are off... although I'm not sure about 4 way flashers. The only time I ever used them was in park and the lights were off anyways. But on the one touch to pass thing the headlight near the signal does go off

This is a feature of the DRL system. If you have DRLs and you turn on your turn signal, that headlight turns off, so drivers in the daytime can see you blinker. If the headlight is on, its not visible to see your blinker. (our 2007 Town and country had that feature) As far as at night, if you manually turn on ur headlights, it will override the system, and ur headlights will stay on. We can see your blinker with the headlights on at night, ;) Only dodge and chryslers (maybe grand cherokee) also have a feature that im not happy about the jeep didnt come with. When your headlights are on, and you come to a stop, park, and turn the ignition off, and then turn your headlights off, the tail lights and parking lights will turn off, but the headlights will remain on for 30 sec, another feature our jeeps dont have. I thought I tried the window thing, and it didnt work. But once again, the dodge and chryslers can do the window trick. At least the Town and country and grand caravan. Hope this helps you guys. But ill try the window trick again. We may be made by chrysler, but jeep still has parts that chrysler and dodge dont use for some reason.

My Jeep has it, but I disabled it because I found it a bit annoying. I have it set to turn the lights on when I unlock the door instead. You may only be able to program it with the EVIC

From the OM:
EVIC Functions
•Compass/Temperature/Audio
•Average fuel economy
•Distance To Empty(DTE)
•Elapsed Time
•Tire Pressure Monitor(TPM)
•Personal Settings

•Personal Settings
Headlamp off Delay
When this feature is selected the driver can choose to have the headlights remain on for 0,30,60, or 90 seconds when exiting the vehicle. Press and hold the SELECT button when in this display until 0,30,60, or 90 appears to make your selection
