I have an '08 4x2 Sport. I get a constant 26mpg (80% city driving). My low fuel light goes on at 304mi on the dot almost everytime. I fill it to about 11.5gal.

I've had a K&N drop-in filter since 800mi. My jeep now has 3,300mi.

gas light chicken

pulled a cramer the other night driven back from school, soon as i pulled off campus the gas light came on - made it 30 miles back home (think maybe coulda made it a lil further). after that i filled up and have traveld 235 mi on that tank so far. let ya know how many mi when i drive it past the light again. this is in a 4x2 by the way. mostly highway drivn round 70 mph, cruzn between 2000-2500 rpm. tried to keep it conservative driven on this tank to get good reading of mpg.

After 32,000 miles on my 2008 4x2...

Summer (temps > 60, dry roads, tires at 45-50psi): 23 city, 30 highway
Winter (temps < 60, wet roads, tires at 30psi): 21 city, 27 highway

Best tanks have been right around 425 miles (33mpg) on long freeway trips with tailwinds or drafting off trucks; worst have been around 260 (20mpg) all around town in the winter. Those are full to nearly empty (say, where it takes 12.8 gal to fill up).

I get a pretty big drop when I run with my Yakima rack and something on there (like, say, an inflatable kayak or two)... down into the low 20's even on the highway.

Surprisingly, I get slightly better mileage towing a 17' drift boat than I do with the little inflatables on the roof. Probably 24-25 on the highway with the drifter. Need to get a cover for it to see if that reduces drag any.

Best Observed 32.12mpg (3 adults, 2 kids, hatch loaded)

2nd Best 31.65mpg

Worst Observed 24.24mpg

All tanks are fill-ups typically every 8 days, all mileage is hand-calc.

25 mpg average hwy/city combined. thats actual milage probably could do better but i do 80-85 on the highways. i towed a utility trailer and got 24.3 empty and 21 with 1500, uh...i mean 1000 lbs on it.

Funny how things weight less after reading the manual, huh?

My jeep now has 12k miles. I still have the K&N drop-in filter, E3 spark plugs, 5w-20 Full-synth oil (Penzoil Platinum), and a bug shield.

I get a constant 29.5mpg everytime. :smiley_thumbs_up:

Those E3's working good for you? What stock number are they? (Planning on getting me some this weekend)...

Thanks...

My gas light was on by the time I made it back to Jacksonville from New Smyrna Beach with the Riot last week... I could barely believe it when I filled up 12 gallons for the tank. Exactly what my 2002 Chevy Cavalier had! Since then, it looks like the MPGs are spot-on if not better than the coupe... amazing :D

'09 4x2 5speed, 'D' package, whopping 227 miles total, my second (half) tank fillup, 19.2 mpg, mostly Chicago city driving, some highway.

For the '07 Patriot, it's E3.56
For the '08 Patriot, it's E3.48

I'm not sure if the '09 will be different from the '08.

Honestly, I don't know if there was much difference because I changed the plugs after my first oil change at around 3.5k miles on my jeep.

I just figured, for $30 (4x $6 +$6sh), it doesn't hurt. I bought mine from JCWhitney.com

Ok...

Before anything I picked up my Pat with only .8 miles on the odo. After 3 tank fillings, I was seeing approx. 20.0 to 20.3 MPG. Keep in mind that I have almost all city driving with A/C going. Of that city driving, I would venture to say that about 40% is stop-n-go traffic. I consider myself somewhere between a moderate to heavy footed driver also.

At about 480 miles on the odo, I swapped to a drop in K&N filter. I am at 679 miles now and my MPG has been fluctuating between 20.8 and 20.9 - peaking at 21 MPG from time to time. Virtually the same driving conditions except for maybe a tad more traffic due to bad weather here this past week. When it rains people drive like at 20 miles an hour - or less. This "appears" to be an increase of about .5 to .8 MPG's. I'll take it for sure. This translates into an extra 6.6 miles range minimum being squeezed out of each tank fill. I don't have the math to tell you how much savings dollar wise this would be. I make it a point to fill up always at 1/4 tank. If I get bored enough one day I'll do the exercise. If someone has the formula for use on an Excel worksheet, I will be more than glad to incorporate it there. I keep my MPG log there.

Now, I am stating the MPG's as per the EVIC -BUT- past couple of tank filling's I have also done the manual math and the numbers are right there. If there is a difference, it is almost always in favor of the manual calculation and so far by no more than .2 MPG.

Now, I just acquired some E3.48 spark plug's and I will be testing these out. I will install them this weekend and report after a full tank fill to see what I have on hand. And yes, I bought two packets of Permatex anti-seize lubicant.

Greetings Everyone!
I have seen as high as 24.6 MPG cruising at 68MPH - while loaded with my wife, son, and I, and a full cargo load. We were returning from visiting my parents in New Hampshire. This is with the 2.4L FDII CVT, 4x4 Trail Rated: 17" wheels, skid plates and all but the icky heated "leather" seats (and the chrome I wish I did choose to accent the black). Granted that was for maybe 5 minutes on a virtually flat stretch, but I did average over 23 MPG for the majority of the smooth commute home last June. I averaged 23MPG again on the same route in November, that time with a large nylon cargo carrier packed on the roof rack. In the city...which is just 30 miles south of D.C., so you can imagine how bad the traffic is during the 4:30AM to 8:30AM "rush hour"... I averaged just over 18MPG, but now average over 19 MPG in stop&go commutes after getting a K&N replacement filter. My driving habits, I generally go with the flow but make plenty use of the middle and passing lanes.

E3.48 for the '09 Patriot... works perfectly.

I just put on Thule AeroBars crossbars and a fairing. I thought it was not affecting my MPG but it is.

I was getting a constant 27-29 mpg before the install. Checked it today and it was 24 mpg. I will probably take them off and only install when I need to haul the cargo box.

They really add to the cool look factor but gas is back up again. $2.59 gallon for reg her in KY.
