What's been the gas mileage on the Patriot?

About how much mileage does the Patriot makes? I'm intrested in the Sport version 4x2 CVT, and I'm concerned about that.

Thanks...

Since I just finished a weekend trip, I'll answer your question. With my trail-rated 4x4 I got 25 MPG on the highways with just a little over 2000 on the odometer. I'm told by the dealer that mileage will improve as I progress to 10,000 miles. We'll see. I'd expect a 4x2 to be even better. I'm quite happy with what I'm getting now.

4x4 Sport with 5 speed manual.....maybe 3500 miles on it, I have yet to go over like 21 mpg, Litte upset by it, guess I drive a little too hard, old car was supercharged chevy SS. Hope my MPG gets better!

I've got a sport 4X2 CVT with @ 3500 miles now. Initial mileage was @ 21 MPG, but it has increased now to the point that my average runs about 24 MPG, and that's all driving back and forth to work (12 mile commute across town; mostly suburban driving with some cross-town Interstate). My previous 2000 Impala 3.8l would get about 20 MPG on the same commute. Key on the CVT seems to be to keep RPMs in the 2,-2,500 RPM range, letting the transmission catch up versus trying to flog the thing (which definitely kills mileage). I've only had one real highway trip, and I think I got maybe 25 MPG, but that was very early on. I chose the Patriot because most of my driving is commuting/city driving, and I wanted something that would give me good mileage and give me some hauling versatility...so far I'm pleased.

2007 4x2 CVT purchased last April. I now have about 13,500 miles on it. I consistently get 24-26mpg city and between 24-30mph on the highway depending on how hard I drive it and if my bikes are strapped to the top.

I'm overjoyed at my mileage. Key is to drive smoothly and keep your tires aired up.

27.2 daily mixed country and city driving (11 mile round trip to work with 4 of it city) and a high of 34.6 on the highway. I mostly average 32 highway, but I have had a few really good tanks of gas. I figure my mileage by the miles the GPS reads and gallons used, so it is real close. The 5 speed is the biggest help on the mileage from what I have read.

I installed the Tornado thing in the gas tank, one on the transmission, and one in the trunk on the spare tire.
Then I installed a K-M air filter that worked so well, I stuffed 3 more under the hood and taped them all together.
I bought a $1,000 device that turns ordinary water into helium, which pumps directly into the fuel injectors and has an attachment to fill balloons as well (a sideline business).
I then over-inflated my tires to 185 psi in the rears and 190 in the front tire ( I took one front tire off to save friction and I simply lean to the left to compensate - works great most of the time)
Before these mods I was getting 21.7 mpg with all city driving but now I'm up to almost 24 mpg with all highway driving.

Quite an improvement for a small investment, and the balloon business has really taken off, I forgot my anniversary and instead of getting the bit*hin I normally would have, I simply inflated a dozen party balloons, tied em up, and all was well.

The only downside is that I pretty much have to drive all highway miles now as the car drops onto the brake rotor if I come to a quick stop. Parking it is also more difficult.

It's all worth it for the extra mpg's !

I'm averaging 16 mpg, all city. (San Francisco)

I'm driving a 2008 4x2 Patriot, 2.4L engine. CVT2. I'm worried there's something wrong with my patriot because everyone else is getting such better mileage. MYILTOG is getting 20 mpg in Los Angeles. Sure there aren't hills there, but there is a crapload of stop and go.
