Turn off "sound horn on lock"

Greetings!

I have my Patriot Sport almost all set up the way I want it. I got all five doors to unlock with one press of the "Unlock" button on the fob. I got all five doors to unlock when I turn off the Patriot and open a door. What I can't get to work is to turn off the horn chirp when I lock it. I just want the lights to flash, with no horn chirp. I have followed the instructions in the manual: press Lock for four seconds, press Panic, release both buttons. Nothing changes. Am I missing something? Has anyone else figured out how to turn off the horn chirp?

I'm having the same problem to. I can't get the chirp to turn off when I lock the doors with the remote. I follow the instructions perfectly, but nothing. I'm contacting DC tomorrow to get to the bottom of this, I can't stand the chirp, what is that. I'll let you know what I can get from DC and post it here and in my last post in General.

sorry, I can't help you on this. I actually perfer the chirp. It is sometimes too noisy for me to hear the doors click on locking and my eyes are on the little ones with me so I don't look back to see if the lights flashed.

Sometimes the chirp makes finding it in a crowded parking lot more easy.

Alright, here's the story on that horn chirp and how to turn it off when you don't have the EVIC. Follow the manual.............. Great advice from the company that built the thing, but I guess they forgot to test that tiny little function that's suppose to work.

Anyway, I just got off the phone with DC and they said do as the manual says to do, and if that doesn't work, call the dealer and talk to a tech. Yeah, what the H@*l does a tech no about why the computer can't process that function. My guess is that the computer isn't programed to take the same command as it's sister the Compass.

If any one has any luck at all at getting the chirp off, let me know. In the mean time, I'll be clicking away with every possible combination of code I can think of. I guess it's better to have this type of problem then have the tranny skipping every other gear while your rolling down the road :D

Why does having the EVIC matter? I just picked mine up and was thinking, "the honk they are talking about can't be all that bad" wow! The first time I locked it, I actually jumped from how loud it was. I do have EVIC--its part of the Driver Convenience package, right?--I have that crazy display on my dash... I haven't read the manual yet to find out how to turn it off... but if anyone knows here... I'll probably read this before I get around to completely reading through the manual!

Dealer said the same thing to me to. Only thing is I've already spent hours trying to figure it out and I didn't want to have to go through the anguish of watching a certified mechanic doing the same thing. DC boys said to take it to the dealer, what good could that possibly do? ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the horn has officially got to me.

Okay, so I was at the dealer to get my oil changed today and mentioned the horn honk on lock and they mentioned that they have to do it there. So I had them disable it today and it actually worked. No more of this damn honking when I lock my door. I guess DCX found out about it and told them how to do it.

disengaging the remote-lock horn?

I would rather not have the horn beep every time I lock the doors with the key fob. I've followed the directions in the owner's manual. The horn still beeps.

Followed the directions with the second key. The horn still beeps.

I thought maybe I was just misunderstanding the directions. I had my wife read and follow the directions.

Has anybody on this forum been able to disable the remote lock horn?

Thanks,

yeah, you need to take it to the dealer. For the longest time they were saying that they couldn't do it and Daimler Chrysler has now informed them that if you want it done that the dealership has to do it. I guess it's just a matter of going into the computer and turning it off. I went today and they did it for me while I was getting my oil changed.

turning off "sound horn on lock" feature

I would rather not have the horn sound when I use the keyfob to lock my new Patriot. Despite following the directions on page 26 in the owner's manual, I have not been able to reprogram the remote lock so that the horn does not sound.

Am I missing something?

Thanks,
