There is alot of discussion on the tire sizes of the 4x4s but what about those of us with 4x2s. What is the biggest size we can put on with and without the RR lift without the rubbing? I assume it's different than the FDII but is it different than the FDIs? I'm looking particularly for those of us with stock 17"s. Mine came with 215/60/17s. Can I bump them up to 235s or 245s safely and if so how much more ground clearance would that add?

The stock FDII has two inches more clearance which leads me to believe that alot of the tire talk on the forums doesn't apply to those of us without the extra clearance. Assuming I can fit a 235 on there how much more diameter/clearance does it add to a 215? If I add a lift before hand how much bigger than that can I go? Can I even fit a 235 on a stock 4x2 without rubbing?

:smiley_thumbs_up:Don't know if this will help you this is something I found on one of the other pages earlier haven't tryed it yet but thinking of getting bigger tire and rim's once stock 16" wear out. http://cat.cc/tiresize.htm
I have found some nice 18" inch rims in the color that I am considering. I have time though since I only have 4,000 miles but I will put on about 24,000 a year so next year I will be looking a little harder.:pepper:

235/65R17 will add 1/2" ground clearance & sidewall...1" of total diameter over a 215/65R17...Approx 1" ground clearance going from a 215/60R17...Remember when looking at specs the jeep 5 spoke (I think) wheels are 17x6.5"...Appears that most measurements of the 235's are taken from a 7" rim...So if you smoosh the tire on a 6.5" it's going to get skinnier (sp?) and taller...
