So I've ordered my new 4X4 Patriot sport, 2.4lt manual 5 and its 5150 mile for delivery will begin shortly. From the dealership in Colorado to Chamonix in France via a few other spots along the way.

Fingers crossed it should take about 6 weeks for my new bright silver machine to arrive. :D

Wow I hope there are no warranty issues :D:doh:

Hey,that's a great news. You are one devoted Patriot fan.I'm sure that the whole business is costing you a little fortune and you could probably buy a very nice European vehicle for the $$$$ you are spending to get this all american jeep.
Congratulation and don't forget to send us some photo reportage after you receive your present from Colorado.

Cool! Have a fun filled trip! Bet you get lots of onlookers. I did it the reverse.. bought a Fiat Abarth Zagato in Rome in 1960, drove it all over Italy, then had it shipped back here. A MUCH more fragile car than the Patriot!

Nevermind

I looked it up on Wikipedia. It looks like 1993 was the year they brought the Jeep to the UK. I can't believe they have been around that long, being that you hardly ever see one on the road anywhere. However, with the PAT selling being offered now, I'm sure you will see more.

Oh WOW! It's on the water. That is SUPER cool! Please us know what the French think of Le Jeep Americain! Have a great time with it.

They do sell Jeep here in France but not the Patriot, it has just been released in the UK but right hand drive so not ideal for here in France where its also left hand drive.

The other major factor in me buying the vehicle state side is that the exchange rates on the dollar are so good for us here in Europe, so even after shipping and import taxes I still save a small fortune.

Will post some photos of the new Pat with the Alps as a backdrop !!

Guess it will be the first Patriot in France. Bravo!

Sharp:wow:, that should look like a nice commercial for "Le Patriote à la française!"
Enjoy the waiting, the arriving, the driving and the heads turning. The new french revolution!

I understand that exchange rate thing, The Pound rate is still around 2 pounds to a dollar. Ouch!! If your making dollars. LOL Well that works, I didn't know with the Import tax that it was still a steal. That's cool. Enjoy your PAT when it arrives.

Great! Love to see those pictures. By the way, I did the exact opposite in 1960, I bought a Fiat Abarth Zagato in Rome, drove it all around Italy, had it shipped to the states and sold it a year later for everything it cost me.

Top Gear is still shown here in the US on the Science Channel of all places. It played several time over the winter and it is a greta show. Love the column where they show the lap times and the mystery driver the Stig or Stick?

D Day France

Well this coming weekend will be “D” day 2007 for my newly purchased Jeep Patriot and me. Once again an American patriot will be storming the northern beaches of France as I bring my 4X4 sport back from the UK to its new home in the French Alps.

As some of you have previously read I purchased this 4X4 in Colorado from the comfort of my own home here in France (the wonders of the internet) and have been eagerly tracking its 5000-mile journey across the Atlantic via the UK to its new home here in Europe. So tomorrow I’ll take a flight back to the UK to collect the vehicle and see a Jeep Patriot on the road for the first time.

Going to spend a few days getting to know her while driving across France back to her new home in the high mountains of Chamonix. I’ll be sure to take plenty of photos along the way, which will be posted here sometime early next week.

Have a great weekend.

Well I flew back to the UK on Thursday to meet my new jeep Patriot for the first time :smiley_thumbs_up: since buying her from a dealer in Colorado in June. From the airport it was a train and taxi ride across London to get to the garage where it was waiting for me.

After picking up the keys and having a good look over the vehicle it was time to get in the driving seat and see how this thing drove.:Racing: The first couple of days were spent driving pretty conservatively to put a few hundred miles on the clock.

Yesterday I left the UK early evening and took the ferry over the English channel to arrive in France at dusk and put another couple of hundred miles on the clock over the next 3 hours before staying over night in a hotel.

Today I got up early and left the hotel at 6am and headed for the nearest motorway heading south and with around 500 miles now on the clock it was time to see just how the Patriot would perform cruising at higher speeds.

This vehicle feels so good just charging along at 80/90 mph, I got it up to speed whilst on the motorway and also took some detours along the regular swooping, dipping curving countryside roads that France has to offer and it performed consistently on both. Loved the firm suspension which helped the Patriot corner without very little feeling of pitching or dipping.

Drove for around 12 hours in total with a few stop offs for fuel and coffee (french coffee is good) and arrived home here in Chamonix this evening feeling good, no aches or pains (the seats are very comfortable).

After only 3 days experience of driving the Jeep Patriot I am well and truly a massive fan of this vehicle, so to any of you out there about to order or awaiting delivery, if you enjoy it half as much as I have you’ll love it.

Going to get out and about in the mountains tomorrow so will post some pictures.
