Anyone got the Premium sound and if so was it worth it?

Yes, I have it. I think it sounds really good, and I recommend it.

I got it mostly for the included subwoofer and convenience--(get it in the payments, already installed, 3/36 warranty, etc). Having the speakers in the tailgate fold down isn't real important to me, but going from 4 to 9 speakers (with 458 watts) just sounds like a good idea. The two dash speakers and the two tailgate speakers add to the surround sound ambiance envelope, instead of just the 4 speakers in each door. They are Boston Accoustic branded, so they are supposed to be of somewhat higher quality than normal stock factory speakers.

I agree that probably a $495 aftermarket speaker set may be better, but would require either self install (my time) or shop install (paying someone else to do it would probably quickly exceed the $495 total including speaker purchase+subw+crossovers+amps, etc). Also, an aftermarket subw install wouldn't come in the convenient factory enclosure panel.

I haven't heard the 4 speaker system, but other posters have talked about how good just the 4 speaker sounds and in their opinion it is good enough.

For me, if the motor is running the speakers are playing, and I want clarity and good sound. Therefore, this is probably the most heavily used option available--used much more than A/C, 4x4, cruise control, heated seats, etc.

4 speakers

i have the 4 speaker system and with windows down at highway speeds is plenty clear! With my Bass @ -5/Mid @ -2/ and Treb@ +4 /i get plenty of Bass and nice crisp highs. the most important thing is not to set bass to high or like with any speaker even a subwoofer it will hit to hard and not sound good.

Yes I got it

And while it isn't cheap, it was worth it. The sound quality is far better than the standard 4 speaker system. I listened to the standard system, and I thought it was dull sounding, lacking treble, and not particularly loud. Just average, maybe below average by modern auto standards. The Boston Acoustics is way above average, and given that the speaker placement etc is customized to the car, you're much better off getting it than a typical aftermarket system.

My two cents.
