Temperature Display

The wife was on her way to work this morning and called to ask about the in digital outside temperature display. She said it was showing -39c, then she would get 3 flashing lines. I figure that it must have reached its limit. Could this be the problem. You would think it would read a bit colder temp for something being sold in Canada as a "North Edition".

Pigshanks: I know you have had some seriously bone-chilling temperatures the last couple days. Just a guess but perhaps the sensor and/or the computer bottoms out at -40. Why -40? Perhaps solely because that is when the temp is the same whether in Celsius or Fahrenheit. -40 is damn cold in anybody's books.

Anyone know the reporting range for the EVIC?

If you're looking at the front of the Patriot, it is to the left (towards the center grille) of the fog light on the right, and down below the front bumper (the part that sticks out the furthest)... In other words, it's below the front bumper, right at the bottom bit of plastics, you'll see a little odd shaped black object cable-tied to the bottom piece of plastic.

I know it's a terrible description but it's in an awkward place. ;)

The coldest I've seen on mine so far is -3 F.

Native New Englanders don't start complaining until the negatives hit the double digits. Then we take perverse pleasure in calling our friends in warm places and boasting that being -10 F isn't that bad!

Well, that is understandable. Beats going outside in that weather... :)

Bummer I did not get an outside temperature gauge on my new Jeep Patriot Sport 25E manual transmission package, just cool wheel, tire group and music. I stuck a gauge on my dash and ran the wire into the door well. Any better ideas out there? I'm in the "Gorge" near Hood River, Oregon but on the Washington side of the river in deep snow this year!
