That's a nice color! I also like the striping, nice touch. I'll have to ask about that. Thanks for getting them for us. Wow...I keep coming back to look at this! Sunburst Orange is 75 dollars less than the red, which has a deeper tone. It will be either the red or the orange when I order in less than two weeks. MUST look at more pictures!

Hmmmm. Gotta say...just not digging it. Not even a little... Now that might change if I had the money to buy one then trick it out like the concept model but on it's own it's just not a color I'd pick.

I've been fantasizing about an orange Patriot for quite some time, but these pix are a little disappointing. Looks more like a rusty orange instead of a copper orange. However, I've noted that, based on the Patriots I've seen thus far, the colors look completely different in real life than in photos. I've seen the Sunburst Orange on a Dodge Caliber and it looked better than in these Patriot pix. In this case, I think the color tone of the camera is not representing the vehicle's true color. I still think this vehicle will look awesome in orange (that pin stripe has got to go, however). I also really want to see a Surf Blue Patriot in person before I definitely settle on the orange.

I agree. You can't judge the color from a photo...have to see the vehicle. I was going to order a metallic blue but I could'nt find one on a dealers lot. But I did see one in inferno red and it looked a lot better than in the photos so I ordered it.

Well this looks more red than the SEMA version that I guess was what I was thinking it would look like...also on the Caliber I saw on the website it was more "orange"....we'll have to wait and see. Will they all have that pin stripe? Even on the limited?

Ahh...I just saw on the Ebay site a pic of an extra charge for "slush mats and stripe"...I hope that Stripe is not standard!

Go to the www.dodge.com website and check out their vehicles in sunburst orange...the color looks nothing like this one!

#12 ·
Yea. WAY too many variables between the guy with a camera in a parking lot and us seeing it on the web.

Way WAY too many.

I'm on the fence in re: to the orange. I would have to see it in person.

I hope that Stripe is not standard!
If it is they come off very easily. Dealer should do it for you.

Cheers,
Jim

Well...I mean it is ORANGE on the website. But there are some pics on ebay of other dodge vehicles in sunburst orange and they also look very "red"...I will have to wait and see it.

I'd have to see it in person aswell. It could be a good color but not in those pictures IMO.

Now a solar yellow Patriot.. that'd be cool!

I went to the dealer and saw the paint swatches today - I ordered the surf blue and got scared with all of the crazy posts about the color - but nowbody has actually seen one and I can't find a picture anywhere. The dealer told me on the phone "it's like a blue m&m - it's perfect for you!!!" - uhh - I said "I'll be there in a minute" :) Well, it's got some tones of the blue m&m but it's full of sparkles so it glistens - like the surf maybe? I'm still on the fence - it's hard to look at a 1 inch swatch and determine what the car will look like.

I can add this though, the orange swatch color looked a bit deeper than the concept photo and not at all as red as the photos above AND not at all like an orange m&m (I stopped to get a pack) and the yellow - not for me, and a bit deeper than the yellow m&m :)

2008 Surf Blue Patriot

I'm guess I'm late to the 'Surf Blue' color party, but I've seen one just off the truck at my local dealership and the 'Blue M&M' analogy is indeed spot on. It's a vibrant bright ocean-toned blue that in my mind would look great in Sunbelt climates like southern California.

FWIW, my local dealership received eight new patriots the day the Surf Blue model arrived and it was sold and gone within 24 hours! The other seven, all 4x4 Limiteds, are still sitting on the lot three weeks later along with a couple leftover '07 Patriots.

I used my screen grab program, got the sunburst orange side image and then grabbed a red side image from your pictures. Cropped them and compared them on the same page. It was close, but I think I'll stick with the red. There are so few Patriots out here, that waiting to see one in the dealer's yard could be a very long process. I want to order mine by the 17th.

Luwana, I have a strong feeling that the Surf Blue is YOU! Bet you love it. My wife wanted me to get the red, which is fine, because that's a good looking color, but I was also thinking about the Surf Blue, it's a real nice color.

With the Surf Blue when I was in the insurance agent's office yesterday. Kendall and I were trying to figure it out. We think we came close to what it could look like. It wouldn't be bad if it was what we were thinking. We were looking around at different colors of blue and she pointed to this one. I want to see one.

Ya - I've seen this - isn't it terrible?!! I knew this was wrong when because the 2007 marine blue looks like a darker grey http://research.cars.com/go/crp/res...sAndColors.jsp&makeid=23&modelid=8373&year=2007&myid=&acode=&mode=&aff=national --I've seen that in person and it's not at all grey - I could live with the marine blue - they said the surf blue was lighter than marine, but it is sparkly on top of it! arg - I have to tell her if I want to change it on Monday - pulled out all the blue m&ms and have them sitting on the counter :icon_rolleyes:

It's very frustrating. The online color charts and pictures, both at cars.com and at jeep.com just don't show you what the colors really are. The pictures on this forum sent in by owners are much better, but depending on the lighting and camera the colors can be off. I was given the brochure by my Jeep dealer and the colors in the photos are pretty good and were done professionally, but I don't have a 2008 brochure. Luwana, if you like the light blue, I don't think you will be upset with the new color. It will be a light blue, very close to the original marine blue but might be a bit more glossy, from what I understand. If you didn't get light blue, what other color would you like?

I tried last night to find the color on caliber and on 2008 Jeeps. There was a lot of 2008's out there and a couple in the surf blue but no pictures. Re: could this be the thread. I noticed there's more of the oranage on lots than the surf blue.

in re: to viewing color

There are not only many color variables in your monitor,
but throw in your video card and it's settings,
the file type/compression, processing and program used to create and save the file,
the program processing the file and displaying it on your monitor,
the user's camera quality and color settings,
the time of day he took the picture and you are viewing it,
and you have enough uncontrollable variables to never trust color over the web when making this important of a decision.

Good Luck,
Jim
