so I have been waiting to add more lighting to my pat. but the aftermarket for patriots is very limited  so i have the working and testing some brackets to mount some led spot lights. I have come close to getting a final product but it still needs some twicks. i bought some cheap dually d2 knock offs for testing but I will be buying a set of rigid industries lights. Im wondering if anyone would be interested on a set of this brackets. I'm also going to start working on some tail light aluminum guards for the patriot as I can't seem to find any already made. and i will also be working on some brackets for a 50" curved led bar to be mounted right above the windshield.

let me know what you guy think, all the feed back is appreciated :notworthy:

I have no idea how much to sell them for. I had no interest on selling them but people are always noticing the lights and asking about them and say I should really look into selling them. this are just prototypes they need to be reinforced and are only spray painted with a final product it would be powder coated. I have to meet with a friend that has industrial machinery that can duplicate them easily and affordable. doing them by hand can be time consuming and quite of bit of work. I guess I would have to figure out the cost of making them before considering a selling value. but what would be a fair price to ask for them? in other words what are people willing to pay for them so that I have price target to shoot for, and idea of its even worth putting the time on duplicating the mounts

Very interesting! I like this look a lot. If I don't get a light bar I will likely want something like this. It looks affordable and sharp! I hope to see more photos of this soon!

alright so I couldn't touch base with my friend that would replicate this for me. Im still waiting for his call back. I did however speak to this other guy that was referred to me, he works at a shop where they specialized on offroad lighting for jeep wranglers. he said he can built me a set of this mounts for at LEAST $200!!!! thats just flat out crazy! but he said that was cheap price for a custom job and he was giving me a "discount" because I was referred. the guy wanted to make an easy buck. Anyway, I can built them myself for a lot cheaper. I think for the time being Im going to order some materials and built a couple of mounts and see how those sell or maybe even action them off on ebay.

what do you guys think ??

I think auctioning off 2-5 on ebay at one day intervals during the weekend would be a good way to sell the first few. Eager players will pay a little more and hopefully they are part of the forums and can post up reviews and details of the install etc.

Then if you end up building more or start mass producing in the future set a fixed price (not based off auction sell prices) and post them up.

I have a couple more questions and would want more details on what they look like uninstalled, and exactly how they install.

-is there any reason these wouldn't mount to a 4x4 2011+ jeep?

-will it fit on the older models <2011?

-can you open the hood fully without it banging against the light? I'd love a photo of the clearance between your light and hood with the hood open and propped up.

:smiley_thumbs_up:

Eager to see more keep us posted.

Update

Sorry It's been taking so long for this brackets to get going but I was waiting for supplies to arrive. But it came in today and this is what I was able to get done.

This one is shorter and closer to the windshield for a cleaner look. It still needs a couple of twicks.

Are you guys still interested?

Looks really good! Are you going to make it polished aluminum? If the price is right that's a great idea!

I know if you can succeed with this project i'd definitely be interested. Pending the price of course. I've tinkered with this idea but I haven't had hardly any time for myself lately.

I'm hoping to have something up on ebay sometime next week or the next. Whats giving me trouble is some vibration at certain speeds. My pat vibrates at around 20 mph and sometimes at higher speeds on freeway and when the car vibrates it causes the led spot lights shake as well. the vibration isn't much but its enough to bother me as I'm driving. and Im sure it will bug you guys as well especially when off roading. Whats makes it tricky is that the mounting is only by a single bolt, so I'm trying to make the brackets as small as possible. I have added a center support to reduce flex. Its an improvement from the first set of brackets. The second prototype is stronger but there is still movement from side to side as its only being held to the car at one end of the bracket. I'm going to make a 3rd bracket thats even smaller (to further reduce flex and it also makes the spot lights less visible from the inside of the car) and with more exact angles to create a larger area of the brackets supporting off the car. hopefully that helps enough so that I can get it to you guys. If I'm still not satisfied with it, I will be forced to figure out a way to get a second mounting hole somewhere; That would require a bit of modification when installing. I will try my best to get this going as soon as possible and to keep the installation as simple as possible. making this brackets turned out to be a bit more complicated than it seemed. Im trying to get the brackets just right (or at least the best I can) so that you guys make a good investment towards your patriots.

Also, would you guys be interested on an ebay posting including the led lights or just the mount brackets??

It doesn't move all the way from side to side. The bracket is actually well secured and doesn't touch the hood at all. It's just a small annoying shake that is caused by the combination of the weight of the lights and the car vibrating. But I do think that a second mounting point will be required to help with this issue.

I agree with your comment on R&D, I Have put so much time into this project (not to mention the cost of tools and materials) that I wonder if its even worth it haha.

wood could be great to come up with a prototype but for this application I think that is best if the fins product is metal.

thank you for the input and compliments.

As far as a package deal goes, probably only if the price is right, maybe you could get some sort of quantity discount through a light manufacturer? But that would be a bit of hassle on your side.

About the mount, is there a way to also attach it to the plastic strip at the edge of the window? It might not be a strong enough mount though.

i wouldn't be interested in the package deal, i want to get my own lights separate. i might get trolled for this, but would some double sided 3m tape assist in combination with the one mounting bolt? i would imagine the 3m tape could give some cushion to any vibration and may hold it down to the window a little more sturdier? its not a second mounting bolt but it might do the trick.

Alright so I have been working on this quite a bit. a lot of trail and error and nothing has really worked. I have tried several second mounting points but they don't provide the strength I would like.

I was hoping that attaching the bracket to the black plastic trim at the bottom of the windshield would do the trick but the black trim has no strength at the corners where I attached the bracket to. I tried a couple of spots there but it was still not what wanted

I also tried to utilized the opening on the black trim and mount straight to metal of the car. but the extension to get to there is too long and it loses all the strength.

I have succeed by running a screw through the bracket then through the black trim and then straight in to the metal of the car. This got rid of the small vibration I was having at times when driving. But this is exactly what i didn't want to have to do. I want the installation to be simple and cleaner looking. I know most will be particular about having to drill a hole to the car its self. its also difficult to make the holes alined because of the angle it is in and the hood is in the way making it hard to work on that area. drilling a hole creates the possibility of a leak. Even thought it can be made leakproof, I wouldn't want to be responsible for any damage created by either water making its way inside or by simply attempting to make the holes.

My next attempt will be to make a bracket that has a wider angle creating a greater tension againts the windshield trim. and hoping that helps enough so that no modification have to be done when installing the brackets. The vibration isn't much but I would like to get rid of it a much as I can. Im not a big fan double sided tape but I will definitely try it and see what benefit I can get from it.

Can you get the bracket to line up with the black trim on the windshield? double sided tape along that might help. Maybe mount the light further back behind the brace too?
