Now I live in central oregon and there's not a freeway for hours, so i'm no help.

Well, I drive often at 140-150km/h. Patriot seems to be very stable, but the steering wheel has a bit "light" feeling. Car magazines here in Greece write that Patriot & Compass are the best on-road vehicles that Jeep ever made...

 

I've had the Pat over 90 for steady periods of time. It handled real well and didn't seem like it was giving all it had. I was around 3000rpms and still had plenty of passing power if I needed it. At high speeds it almost feels like the Pat hunkers down. She feels real solid and not all over the place like other SUVs. I'm not a fast driver but when you have other vehicles barreling down on you, you try and keep up .

I don't mind having mine at 80-85 on the freeway, and do it fairly regularly going up the '5' (or 5, as it were). I've done some longer trips averaging over 100 but those were two-lane blacktop out in the middle of nowhere on nice, sunny days. Not sure I would do that anywhere there was a chance of hitting anyone/anything.

As for not having the opportunity to drive fast in Central Oregon??? Try the 20 from Bend to Burns or the 31 past Silver Lake headed towards Reno. Talk about perfect roads for winding out some serious MPHs...

Yeah, I'd probably hit an antelope or something. Haha

 

I also drive around 150 km/h (90 mph) on highways sometimes and the Patriot feels stable and nice. You can definitely tell you're driving an SUV, but I've never felt any risk of rolling over. Be warned though, that driving that fast will ruin your mileage.

 

When I lived out there, we didn't call that an accident. We called it dinner

 

i had my pat up to 114 and i thought it had very good handling for being an suv.:Racing: felt like it was gripping the road well..

 

This past summer, I drove my '08 home from Kelowna to Vancouver, BC via the infamous Hope-Princeton section of Hwy. 3. This is a very hilly, winding road, and the Pat was fantastic. Handled better than my old Accord, and just loved the curves, especially manual-shifting the CVT.

i had mine up to 95 with an empty utility trailer and there was no problem what so ever, the only down side to speed is that you sacrifice MPGs. i averaged 24 MPG with an average speed of 80-85 w 4X8 trailer. Actual MPG

 

It's actually like most cars at that speed; eerily smooth. We've only hit those speeds by accident going up the 15; but at around 80, it smooths out and is very quiet.

 

i have had mine up to 115 and it handled fine. but that is also why my jeep is getting parked for 2 weeks i got busted doing 99 in a 65 $208 fine and 15 day suspension

 

the fastest I've gone is closed to 120 mph in occasions, down in I-75 in Florida, but I-75 is a 1 hour straight highway. I used to go closed to 140 mph in my Jetta, but I guess the Pat does'n go that fast w/o mods & just doesn't feel right...

 

average speed last time i cruised down i95 was 80...i didnt think i was going that fast to be honest

 

driving back from Colorado to Dallas TX, going 85-90 off and on, and still got like 25-26mpg. Handled fantastic!

 

I've had mine up around the 120 mark, and it really doesn't feel much different to going 80 as long as the road is smooth.. One thing I have noticed is that when you are doing hard acceleration at high speeds, and then quickly slow down the car shakes a bit, but it gets better once you're at lower speeds..

 

Mine torque-steers like a SOB if I step on it when I'm at about 65 or higher already.

well.. my speedo says 114 (then the limited kicks in) .. my navigation said I was doing 116..

 

the fastest ive gone is 90 for about 10 minutes and it seemed pretty smooth to me. I would have gone faster but my wife was with me. her eyes got all huge when she looked at the gps and saw 90+ hahaha :wow:

 

You will not get up any higher than 195 km/hr. At that speed it is all over the place and very loud. The stock tires are also not rated to that speed.

I would not take it any more than 140 km/hr myself.
