Some photos from wheeling around the Prescott AZ Area

Moved the tire to the roof and now have a nice trunk under the floor with all the reclaimed space that the spare used to occupy. Gear goes into the floor, Great Dane and Pitbull into the back, more gear onto the roof, Patriot goes into the mountains and up the trails :)

Excellent! Can't wait to get the roof basket and some dogs! :)

It looks like I wouldn't have too much of an issue with the extension on the basket and having a sunroof. My view may get obscured while it's on but doesn't look like they'd impact or anything.

Nice pictures!

1) There is a rather large plastic(?) part at the far end of the space under the trunk floor. This is otherwise empty space, but it does protect the amplifier (I think) that comes with the BA system. Since you have a subwoofer on the right side of the trunk, I am assuming you have this system - so did you leave that part intact, or did you take it out, or modify it to get more space?

2) I just asked about having a roof basket that is longer than the side rails on the roof a couple of days ago... Nice timing! :) Since you've tried this in real life, what would you say - could the basket be even longer? Or would it need additional support at the front? A real safari rack the lenght of the whole roof would be neat, but I'm wondering how ridiculously expensive it would get...

1) I didn't notice, I will have to investigate

2) I'd say if it were much longer you may need some additional support, especially if you placed too much weight in it. But as mine is it does well with reasonably heavy loads.

One note on longer baskets: You probably can't tell from the photos but when I initially put that basket on I was very disappointed. The front of it appeared to be arching upwards. This was due to the way the roof slightly slopes down towards the front windshield. I had to put a slight lift 1-2" on the back of the basket to make it appear level. I used black shock boots to conceal the lift. After that it looked much better. A longer rack may have more of that problem.

Cost: I don't like to think about that :)

But actually the rack is about 8 years old, I totally sanded it down and refinished it over a few weeks, It is a Loadwarrior + Extension, Probably $400 or so?

Yes, bought the Mopar Crossbars $120. Which seem very solid.

New Air deflector $25 I think.

So Its alot but there are plenty of other racks out there that look just as good and cost alot less.
