Well a SUV doesn´t come to my mind if i would think about a Satisfaction Pool

Just kidding...

I voted 50% - reasons were : Bad- Leaking dome lights, only fair gas mileage, Light sheet metal, interior design needs improvement. Good- size, handling, adequate power

I'm riding the fence...on the one hand I'm getting good gas mileage (for an SUV, almost 24 MPG in town), and the vehicle is definitely easy to maneuver and such, but on the other hand there's definitely a sense of economy car in the materials and ride. Had I paid $3k less I'd be 75% happy, only because of the smallish gas tank that requires me to fill up slightly more frequently than once a week, and I did have a rain leak that had to be repaired. I think if I were in considering a Patriot today I'd try to hold off until details of the 2009s with improved interiors arrive, which could the vehicle a more upscale feel.

100% is something tough to commit to, but that's what I went with. If given the chance again, I probably would have dropped the same coin on a certified pre-owned luxury SUV, but only because I do more driving that I originally anticipated.

I went with 75%. I am satisfied with the interior space and handling although I believe the gas/petrol tank needs to be a little larger. Maybe even a little more ground clearance aswell. AND they (jeep/chrysler) really need to fix the leaking interior lights!! Other than that, i'm pretty happy :)

25%

Bad
- Needed a front-end alignment after 1000 miles.
- Needed a new transmission after 7000 miles.
- Low power
- Low MPG
- Horrible dealership experience (NW Jeep sucks!!!)
- Indifferent response from Chrysler to my experiences and concerns

Good
- Looks cool
- Has been great in the snow
- Has done pretty well off road

I'm selling it ASAP so I can go back to driving a Subaru. Yeah, they may look ugly, but I've owned 4 and they couldn't be killed and they're great in the bad weather.

I bought the Patriot because my brother used to let me drive his old Cherokee and I loved it and I was hoping the Patriot would live up to being the next generation Cherokee. I was hoping for a solid utility vehicle. But it's been one hassle after another with this vehicle. It just plain sucks.

Vehicle, great! Chrysler Financial, another story.

I'll give the vehicle itself a very high rating. My bone to pick is with Chrysler Financial that uped my interest rate a point a week after I signed a contract and still declined the $500 incentive. My contract had nothing on it that says they can do that and the vehicle was already registered in my name and a has a plate on it.

So far based on limited experience the vehicle is probably one of my purchasing decisions, and going through Chrysler Financial probably one of my worst decisions.

Oh well.:(

in retrospect was better off with a liberty
Same MPG, same price, much better power,
really? Or are you comparing your actual MPG to the Liberties sales sticker MPG?

I bet the Lib will also have worst actual milage than it's window sticker, in which case you're still ahead, and also paid less for your Jeep.

Pat vs Liberty

Comparing them in real world driving,
Have taken both cars from NY to Toronto(450 miles each way)
both got 21mpg all highway,
Was using my sisters liberty on long road trips,
as before i got the Pat didnt want to risk it with my neon that had +200K miles on it,
Liberty with larger tank required fewer stops,
every day driving both get 18-21 mpg
60K miles on the liberty
15K on the Pat

and for pricing when i bought the Pat, they were offering $3000 rebates on the liberty, with such a rebate 4x4 liberty would have been same price, possibly little less than the FDII Pat

Well, I have a question? Am I supposed to respond to a POLL or a POOL?

I don't have a Pat. 4x4, so could answer anyway!

90%

I put 100% because 90% was not an option. The Patriot has made me happier than I could imagine. I read every spec on it. I looked it over completely. And I test drove it up an impressive hill on I-70 at 6000 ft in the summer. After buying and driving it in the winter snow - it has amazed me. I do have Michelin LTX M/S tires on it. I have always been impressed with my wifes Subaru Outback in the snow but the Patriot is better. I know my tires are better than hers for snow though.

When the weather is nice I ride my motorcycle however - so I only drive the Jeep when it is snowing - raining - muddy - or whatever the poor weather. And I think that this is why I am so pleased with it. It's no rocket - but I already have one of those. However I drive it to the mountains to snowboard every weekend and my friends are always commenting on how well it scoots up the hills and mountains. I do have the 5 speed and rev the hell out of it.

I find it interesting that those who complain about poor mileage also site lack of power as a problem. This suggests a driving style which is not economical when coupled with this 4 cylinder power plant. More aggressive drivers should stick with a more powerful car/engine combination to achieve better fuel economy with the "heavier foot" style of driving. An overworked engine is never running at a very efficient level. (If you have ever driven with a vacuum gauge you can learn this first hand)

This is the first time since WWII, Jeep has ever received favorable reviews from its 4 cylinder offerings.

Those of you who are getting acceptable mileage; would you consider yourselves conservative drivers or aggressive drivers?

I voted 100 % but I would Give it 90%. I bought my Patriot because I wanted a vehicle with some offroad capability and good gas mileage that was affordable. I have been getting great gas mileage in my FDI 4x4. I did love the liberty but most people I know who have them were getting the same gas mileage as my 05 dodge dakota 4x4 with the V8. The 4 cylinder in the Patriot is more powerful than I thought it would be. My only 2 complaints with the Patriot is The lift gate should have the window be able to open seperate from the lift gate so long items will still fit inside. The other is 9 inches of ground clearance and skid plates should be standard on all 4x4 Patriots. Other than that I am so happy I traded in my 05 Dodge Dakota for a Jeep Patriot.

I drove for two months using a variety of the less extreme hypermiling techniques (I.e. I didn't strip out all the other seats, but I did accelerate slowly, timed the lights, used my brakes as infrequently as possible, etc) and I still only managed to squeeze 18 mpg out of the thing.

I used to drive a Subaru Forester that always got about 22 mpg (mostly city) and felt way quicker.

But go ahead, tell me how I'm not a Jeep purist, :blah:

Ironic though, that only a Jeep purist could appreciate the Patriot, but many Jeep purists don't consider the Patriot a "real" Jeep. Weird.

It's also nice to see Chrysler reps monitor this forum so closely.
