:smiley_thumbs_up:I am planning on purchasing the rro lift real soon and I just baught the jeep about a month ago and want to use up the rubber before going with larger tires. What are your guys thoughts on the look of stock rims/tires (17' alloys) with the goodyear stockers. Like I said I want to use up the rubber before buying new. I have seen some pictures of stock with the lift and personally form the pic I liked it, the stockers made it look taller cause of the extra room vs larger tires which take up more of the wheel well. just looking for opinions. thanks

I would just roll with the stock tires for now cuz they only make like one aggressive tire for the 17's, a BFG KO and it's expensive. I just upgraded to the 16" moabs and went with a A/T tire cuz it looks so cool!

Oh and ps I'm glad to here your finally gonna join the RRO Club!!! :smiley_thumbs_up:

yeah I was planning on it from the beginning was just doing some research with my dealer to see if the warrenty would be effected. looks like it should not be a problem so hopefully within the next few weeks i will be rolling down the road a bit taller LOL

Nice! You'll love the lift! Be sure to post some pics when you get it on. Did you decide to put it on yourself or have someone do it for you?

And don't forget the alignment afterward

When the lift is installed you MUST get an alignment.

just go with the lift, GET AN ALIGNMENT as someone else posted, and use your stock 17" tires. it's not a bad look and in fact, as you said, it looks even higher because of the clearance in the wheel wells.

if after you wear out your tires and you want to go with something bigger, you'll probably have more of a selection THEN as opposed to now. just in the past couple months, BFG came out with a 17" A/T and I would imagine that there will be more in the works, with manufacturers building smaller SUV's.

Well I spoke with the dealership a while back and they just called me and said they install them and its about the same price so I will probably go with the dealership cause anything goes worng and hey they insalled it. Also they have sold some patriots lifted brand new so that gives me a peace of mind that cannot be baught.

Nice, That's cool your dealership installs them too. Let us know how it goes! And don't forget pics!

I will let you guys know how it goes and I will post pics in here. I am waiting for a call on the middle man (parts guy at dealership) to call me back. Only thing I don't like is they take forever I would like to get this done asap and they are taking the sloooow time.

Are you having the dealership buy the lift kit for you?

#15 ·
That I am unsure of but I did tell them I know the lift costs 340.00 and the off road place that was going to install it qouted me 250.00 + 60 for the alignment. So if they charge me more than than around 650.00 all together well then I will install myself or have offroad do it.

Good! When I ordered my lift I asked RRO if they did wholesale discounts and they told me yes but you would have to buy a minimum of $1500.00 usd then you get a 15% discount. So maybe your dealer does that?

Ok well here is the deal, they called me back this afternoon claiming about 700.00 plus tax for the lift. I called back and left a voicemail cause they were gone for the day. I basically said I can get it done down the street for about 50-100 less than that, and that I would like to have them do it however the distance between the two places is about two blocks so why would I pay more at the dealership a block or two away? I guess I am being a bit picky but hey I already spent a good bit of money buying the jeep from them already cut me a bit of slack ya know? So we will see what they say. I could try and tackle it myself but then i gotta bring it in for an alignment and then they can piss and moan if somthing happens due to me installing it. I am so damn undecided cause I was hoping to pay less than 700 to have a 2" lift put on. At this point I am wondering if its really worth the 700?

Why don't you just buy the lift yourself then have the dealership install it? To me it sounds like they aren't getting a discount on the lift so they are marking it up alittle on you. I wouldn't pay 700 for it! It would be cheaper for you to come to Colorado and pay me to throw it on for ya! haha.

I know 700.00 to much. Well I spoke with a good buddy who races dirt tarck and has much more experiance than me with this type thing so he offered to help. His parents have a huge garage with a lift even so the lift will now cost me 340.00 plus getting an alignment after. Much better than the 700.00 and speaking with the service manager at the place I baught it from sounds like it does not matter who installs it warrenty wise so I am not worried about that. He basically said if the lift causes any issue they will not cover whatever the lift effected but it will not void the warrenty. Only catch is rro has no lifts availible right now said by friday they should and the buddy helping me will not be availible for a few weeks but its way worth the wait thats forsure.

yes. no, probably not.

They're used to pull the control arm bushings inline with the bolt holes and then you push the bolts through. It's not easy to do until you get down the technique.

I think we should be able to get it done. My only question is the alignment, i will have to drive it a bit meaning a few miles to get to the place that is going to align it. Will there be any effects of that short jaunt? I would not think so, only if it were a long time meaning 100+ miles then you could see issues. As far as those alignment bars he may even have them? I just spoke with where I work here and we have alignment bars i can borrow for the weekend so that will be great. These look a bit smaller than the ones pictured above but shuold do the trick.

No you won't have a problem driving a short distance to the alignment place. And as for the alignment bars you don't need them! I didn't use them and I didn't have a problem, to be honest you probably could use a screw driver. But inorder to use the screw driver without bending it or breaking it you have to use either a bottle jack or a floor jack with a little 2"X4" or 2"X2" piece of wood. So when you are doing the rear and your putting everything back together you use the bottle jack to push up the strut back into place. Just make sure when you are pushing up the strut with the jack it will clear in between the lower control arm. Then use the screw driver to adjust the strut so you can put the bottom bolt through. Oh and just a tip make sure you put the nuts on the top of the strut to hold it up for you while you work, after you put the spacer on it of course. If you want my number incase you have questions while doing the install you can pm me for it.

Yeah i got a price for installation from a off road shop down from the house they said 400+ not including the alignment. Then i got a hold of RRO and had them fax a copy of installation instructions went over it and i think i will be installing it myself when i get it in a few months.

yup, i went thru the same thing did some searching figured it would be easier to pay someone untill I seen that a 340.00 lift went to close to 750.00 with alignment. i am looking at about 400.00 with alignment doing it myself. plus you learn how to do it and it you ever need to take it off, well you should know how then.
