Cabelas looks wider... I am in the market for the same thing and am really not a fan of the rounded sides of racks... Hence the reason i dig the Curt. I also like the extensions that are avail...

You need crossbars to mount it.

 

Today I was looking online at those same baskets and saw that Cabela's is having a SERIOUS sale on them AND the extensions.

Roof basket is $64.99 and the extension is $25.99.

Both are in stock online, and they're having a shipping sale too.

I went by today and got one shipped to my local store for free because they were out of stock in the store, but I think for anyone who's been holding out on a basket, this is pretty much a no-risk shot.

this is the same roof rack I ended up picking up at Meijer for $89 unfortunately I haven't had it mounted yet

 

I bought the Best Choice basket on Ebay for like $90 Shipped. Looks to be the same as the Curt...

 

My problem is the shipping cost and custom cost when I buy from ebay.COM or amazon.COM, there is not a lot of choice on amazon.CA. Anybody knows about canadian store that sells roof basket similar to the curt with a optional extension?

At this time caleba's seems to have the best deal.

I picked up the extension (they had one in stock), and am still waiting on the basket to come in - but the quality is really incredible. Good welds, good powdercoating.

 

Shipping cost from the US site is 65$ :doh:.... ouch I'll ve no choice for ordering it from the canada site at 130$ shipping include

 

Picked up my roof basket from Cabela's (ship to store) yesterday. It's REALLY high quality, I was impressed. I got a good laugh at the one-page instructions that say "1. Assemble the roof basket with included hardware." :icon_rolleyes:

Going to throw it up top tonight after work, hopefully I can get a picture.

I ordered up the Cabelas with the extension as well. Once it gets here, I will strip the paint, primer it and re spray with truck bed coating for longer protection against rust. Should be here by 6/3

 

Finally got a break in the rain here and tossed the basket up top.

Looks good, fits well. I'm pleased with it. Thought I would hate the mounting hardware... it's not bad, but I'll be replacing the plastic wingnuts with lock nuts tomorrow.

Mine showed up today ... I didn't think the boxes would have been as big as they were ... Lol...

I should get around to mounting this thing next year... (After painting it, working, traveling for work and also having a 9 month old baby)

Just got a chat with the cabela's Canada customer service, after 2 weeks that I've made my order and pay it, they forgot to ship it :doh:

So they've send it today via UPS....

Bavara, which crossbars did you get? Those don't look like the lower OEM/Mopar ones with the round knobs.

 

I actually have some cheap Thule clones that I got off Amazon. They work quite well. I had to trim the rubber pads a bit so they wouldnt touch the roof, but they hold up really well. I've had my canoe up there several times and never had an issue.

 

and it looks like the Cabelas one is on sale for $99.99 right now.
