Here is a link to a 'new' review of the 2009 Patriot Limited

Chrysler’s coveted Jeep brand has had its share of imitators, weak offerings and quality glitches, but it remains a label respected worldwide thanks, in part, to an illustrious history and a rugged image. With more Jeep-badged vehicles on the market now than there have ever been, we decided to take a look at the revised 2009 Patriot, which was substantially upgraded just a year after its introduction.

For 2009, Jeep snuck a brand-new interior in its boxy small SUV with the hopes that it would turn a low-rent festival of plastics into a class standout. Did it work? Read on...

The review was balanced and described what the Patriot was and was not.

But all those nasty comments at the bottom of the review those folks really need to get out more...geeesh

upon further review - the only thing that i can think of that would lead to the incomplete review is that his editor gave him only so many words to work to leading to the choppy style and the focus on the interior. I agree that the review was certainly a "street" view especially in reference to the competition

The review part of the review seems to be missing here. I read it, and I didn't see hardly any mentions of what you really are paying for...where is the ESP, Anti-roll mitigation, 4 wheel disc anti-locks or even a token mention of a comprehensive safety system, or interior capacity. The FDII, was mentioned as, "lifted," as opposed to having a completely different rear end assembly. Another poor choice of words was a "simulated," low range. While I wouldn't call him completely wrong, I would certainly call that misleading. While gear is simulated, the real world torque product," of power to the ground is real.

Seems like all that was being reviewed was the interior.

I have the much maligned 08 interior, and I like it better than the new one visually, but don't care if they bash it. What bugs me about the review, is that it largely ignores much of what this little guy has to offer. I am sure the 09 interior is softer.

Here is a tip for reviewers, think about the type of vehicle you are reviewing before you review it! If you are reviewing an entry level Jeep, maybe a review should be focused on the practical issues of which the vehicle is loaded, with the off mention of the interior.

I know others have put together the spoof review on here in the past, but seriously they are right. This review is about as off the mark as reviewing a cadillac and spending 80% of the review on its traction control system.

I see this review as more of a back-handed compliment than balanced and fair.

Even if the review is based on the FDI, you would still think it would get a better mention about its all-weather capability with 4x4, anti-locks, esp etc.

I like the easy clean hard plastics up front, that isn't to say I am gripe free. The vent levers are made of plastic so soft they feel like they will crack from the extreme bending one gets just pushing them up and down, but other than that I love my big box center console and would miss it being all massaged in like the 2009.

Either way the interior of a Jeep should never be the major focus of any review. Only luxury cars should get this much interior scrutiny.

Didn't see any mention of cargo space that can fit 8 ft long items being amazing in a cute ute.

I swear most reviewers have such a narrow perspective that they judge all vehicles against a luxury sport strawman.

Do reviewers have a clue why people buy a Jeep Patriot?

I thought the revue was shallow, limited to only a few details and lacked insight to what a Jeep is. Maybe he should have driven it more. It takes a while to get used to.

He probably would have liked a Cadillac, I had one and it was the worse piece of crap you could get. Everything broke.

The comments at the end were totally without knowledge.

It wasn't a badly written review but the writer should have taken advantage of a fact checker. Like Upkev I like the hard plastic inside. If I had wanted a cushy interior I would have bought Cadillac's joke of an SUV. I also like the air vents in mine rather than the round ones. No offense to anyone who has a 2009 but I just don't think the round air vents look right. The comments from people after the review were way off the mark, more so than the review itself. Just goes to show there are a lot of ignorant people out there and they shouldn't be commenting unless they've actually driven a Patriot. To borrow a copyrighted phrase "two thumbs down".
