Replaced the stock steelies

So I picked up some new tires/wheels today. The wheels are Enkei PKRs 17x7 with Bridgestone Duellers in 235/60-17. I didn't want anything crazy or big or heavy (or expensive) and defintely didn't want to compromise ride or mpg so after about an hour of going through all of the numbers with the place I decided on these. I ended up being almost 4 pounds lighter per corner with this setup as compared to the stock steel wheels and tires which I was very happy about. Even though it's not much the car already feels spunkier and less sluggish and the handling difference is night and day. These are about .8" taller overall compared to stock which calculates out to about 66.9mph when the speedo reads 65 from what they told me which isn't bad. I just thought I'd snap a couple of quick pics of them and post them up. Sorry about the dirty car and crappy pics but it's getting late here and the sun is starting to go down. I will take more once I get it cleaned up and presentable. This is the first mod I've done so far that's actually visible other than the OEM fogs and tint but like I said I will take more once I'm done with it.

So whattayathink?

Thanks for all of the great comments! I think I got a pretty good deal on these. Essentially the grand total with everything they add and on came out to 1363 and some change but I bartered with them down to $1,198 due to not needing to dispose of my old tires/wheels etc. I think I got a pretty good deal considering the tires and wheels are both well known name brands and ones that I have had positive experience with in the past. I think the wheels were around $129 each and the tires were about the same from what I remember. Enkei also has a $50 MIR if you buy a set of 4 which isn't huge but it's better than nothing.

Those wheels are just awesome sexy.......black and silver. It contrasts well with the red too.

The tires look like good pavement tires. I wouldn't expect much of them off road but they will not compromise your gas mileage.

Save your other rims and sell the tires and get some off road tires mounted on the rims and use them off road so you don't mess up those new rims..........just a thought.

I honestly don't plan to go off-road more than just unpaved surfaces from time to time and figured that since it came with goodyear eagles stock that I didn't need to put offroads on either. I really just tried to stay as close to what came stock on the car but yeah like you said I could mount so a/t on the stock steelies and use them as needed.

You know ive been seriously torn on which direction to go for my wheels and tires.

I looked at 20's and 19's with the low profile tire. I love the look of huge rims, whether they are black or chrome or gunmetal. However I was turned off by the lack of tire. My old ride was a Dodge Avenger with 17" aftermarket rims. They looked amazing but boy was my ride rough. That was when I was 16-20. Now that Im 23, I would really like a reliable, and preferably, confortable ride.

Then I started looking at smaller diameter wheels and bulky tires. I like the more mechanical looking black rims I have seen on some wranglers, with a more aggressive treaded tire, but I was again turned off by the decline in gas mileage, posibility of speedo and abs interuption, and also having to worry about my tires hitting.

I have the 4x2 sport and I really dont intend to go offroading except for some light camping.

Sorry to jack your thread but I just wanted to explain how nicely your tire/wheel combo fits into my dilema. They are a thicker tire, with a nice classy black wheel, accented by a nice lip. Great choice my man. keep up the modding.

Thanks for the comments folks, both positive and negative. Everyone has their own tastes and opinions and that's what makes us all different. I chose this setup for the patriot because it's my commuter vehicle and I wanted the best between looks mpg and ride quality and these being lighter and the color/size I wanted work out perfectly. I'm not at all concerned with going off-road in it, that's what my JK is for. That is the same reason I went with HT's instead of AT's since the noise gets old for me on the highway and would drive me nuts knowing I didn't really need them. The Pat will continue to only be my commuter/road-trip vehicle and it's prefect how it is for that, for me. As for the color, I really thought that black contrasted well against the inferno red and matched great with all of the black accents on the vehicle that also stand out against the red. I didn't like the all black look or the flat black but really thought the satin black with polished lip and center caps worked well. This is the first time I've put black wheels on a vehicle and wouldn't just do it on any color. I saw a white limited today at the dealership and thought the stock limited wheels looked awesome on it and wouldn't change those if they were mine.

those rims look great.
i have a dilemma as i used the stock steeles for my winter tires
i'm thinking of going with 16' and i'll use the stock tires as it'll be cheaper and when i change them, i'll throw on larger 16' tires, but i think i want 17' or 18'
anyone have any input

Nice Enkeis! All you need is a black paint job!

Thanks! My choice would've been black for the Pat as well but I couldn't pass up $11.5 with any color :) I did get my JK in black though at least.

I'm sorry, but did you say "dirty?":wow:

Wow my Pat was dirtier than that the day I picked it up from the dealer (had been on the lot for 9 months) and has never been that clean ever since I have owned it.

You have a clean ride, and the wheels look great!:smiley_thumbs_up:
