I am old enough to desight by myself if I need or rather want a belt or not!!!
Daimler Chrysler refuses to do that....

if you pull out on the seatbelt about a foot, it disables it. maybe put something so it doesnt retract back

The state of Florida has "desighted" for me by enacting a law that states if the vehicle has seat belts installed by the auto maker, you must wear them when the vehicle is in motion or you will be issued a ticket, if stopped. Modifying or disabling them also carries a penalty.

I owe my life to wearing my seat belt when I owned a full size Ford Bronco. Got rear ended by a Mack truck hauling a load of concrete. Had I not been straped in, I would have been either ejected from the vehicle or tossed all around inside it.

You can't predict when the unexpected accident will happen.

Nothing but style, you're probably young, know everything "and you think you're invincible" so I wish you never have that accident happen...

There's no valid excuse. Not wearing your seat belt is just plain stupid...

Stepping down from my :soapbox:

On the soapbox with you. It saddens me to see that anyone would ask how to not be bothered by that "dinging". You are right Gaze that this person is probably young and I can only hope he lives to be old. I too had my life saved by a seat belt but I can't say the same for my 30 year old cousin. She wasn't wearing a seat belt when she was hit by a drunk driver. Her car rolled at least three times and she was thrown from the drivers side window and crushed by her own car. We were told that when her neck snapped she died instantly but you think that comforted any of us? That made two of my dearly beloved family members who were killed in auto accidents because of stupidity. So go ahead Style, take Rdunlaps advice and roll the dice with your life.

Ive been a fireman for 7 years and seen plenty of car accidents and people thrown from cars and know the risks and couldnt agree more on wearing a seatbelt. Ive yet to see someone thrown thru the windshield in a parking lot or moving the car from the driveway to the street not wearing a seatbelt. It would probably be a lot safer to wear a helmet while driving too obviously. you guys took it out of context I believe. He is most likely talking about these instances like knowing you are going to have to stop halfway down your street to get the mail real quick and not putting it on, or getting the mail while leaving your car running and your wife having to listen to the chiming. Or working on your car stereo with the door open and listening to the chime the whole time. These are the times that the chime bugs me. He didnt ask how to get away with wearing a seatbelt on the highway at 70 mph on a rainy night

You obviously still don't get it. Your original post says "I am old enough to desight by myself if I need or rather want a belt or not!!!". I don't see any clarification in that about it being traffic jams or city driving. City driving? Really? You honestly think it's safe to drive around your city without a seatbelt? You are obviously old enough to decide for yourself so please, find a way to stop the dinging and be happy while doing it. I should clarify that the two people killed in my family because they weren't wearing seatbelts were in a city, one at a stoplight with her car not moving. Just because people on this forum who don't even know you care enough about your safety to point out the folly of your idea doesn't mean you should listen to us.

I realy know what it mean to have an exident...
two years ago I had lost control of my old Alpina B12 coupe without seatbelt
Speed 280 kmh
and as you notice...I am alive
only a few scratches nothing else.

is this a reason to be a slave of technology???????????????

I only want to decide by myself...........

/Soapbox On

Can't you just snip a wire somewhere -- under the seat, behind the belt pulley?

Kinda makes me think of those timebombs on TV shows on movies -- just snip the power wire to the dang battery. No battery, no boom.

In this case, no power, no chime.

Well, that's what I have desighted anyways.

Welcome to this forum, Sambogee.
Your first post here should be the second in this thread.
After that, all the usefull advices about safety and stupidity would come in a second place.
C'mon guys, don't shoot Nothing-but-style for just asking that!
Remember that us europeans have a different way of seeing and understanding things. I have seen mods in this forum that were as much dangerous as not wearing a belt. I remember Italian motorcycler's protest march about 3 yrs ago, when their Government made helmet use for scooters mandatory. Stupid? I don't know and I'm not the one to decide, but I respect someone's life as much I respect his free-will.

btw, I used to drive an X5 with the same beeping for both driver's and passenger's seatbelts. (That's for not complaining abt American cars)

**** seatbelt tickets, non moving violation bull****.

are here only do-gooder, priests and howling hags????
If one govener told you: you have to be packed in cotton wool, you will do it:doh:
and call all rebels stupid????
is this amerika??? I thought obedience is german virtue:pepper:

I am not asking to wear an seatbelt or not...
I only want to remove a jingle

and if you are´t able to post a technical tip, don´t boring me with palaver...

So which am I, the do-gooder, the priest, or the howling hag? Yes, you are talking about not wearing a seabelt, check back several posts down when you wrote "I work in my garden without gloves
I ride my bicle without helmet
I drive my car without seatbelt
and have sex without..."

You can back peddle all you want but when you stoop so low as to start calling people names then you lose all credibility. If you don't like the responses you get here then respond with maturity but don't dare starting name calling on the good people who post here. We are a caring and passionate group of people on this forum and none of us deserve to be insulted.

Already posted as attachment but in case you did not noticed, here are the instructions copied from "Owner's Manual":
NOTE: The following steps must occur within the first
60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON
or START position. DaimlerChrysler Corporation does
not recommend deactivating the Enhanced Warning System
(BeltAlert).
1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position and
buckle the driver or front passenger seat belt.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait
for the Seat Belt Warning Light to turn off.
3. Within 60 seconds of turning the ignition switch to the
ON position, unbuckle and then re-buckle the driver or
front passenger seat belt at least three times within 10
seconds, ending with the seat belt buckled.
NOTE: Watch for the Seat Belt Warning Light to turn on
while unbuckling and off while re-buckling the seat belt.
It may be necessary to retract the seat belt.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position. A
single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully
completed the programming.
The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be reactivated
by repeating this procedure.
NOTE: Although the Enhanced Warning System
(BeltAlert) has been deactivated, the Seat Belt Warning
Light will continue to illuminate while the driver or front
passenger seat belt remains unbuckled.

Wonder why he didn't just cut the wire? :D

Truth to be told, by not wearing seat belt you are not endangering anyone but yourself... For me, there is some logic in that that I can chose whether I want that kind of protection or not. You can be sure that smoking kills more ppl than not wearing seat belt, but ppl still do smoke, do they?

On the other hand, although I removed seat belt chime, I wear it as soon as I start engine, before I move my car. For me, putting on seat belt actually is something like "giving time to engine to warm up".

Dummy Buckle

No preaching here. My father is old school and hates the belt as well. Even though I wear the belt (seen too many people leave the car in accidents), the ding is very annoying especially if I an driving slow down a dirt road between hunting locations. Pops has a dummy buckle that he simply clicks in the belt latch. Find a junk yard with a DOA Patriot and cut the buckle out. Simply click it in the latch and no more sound!

This forum is about a lot of things. You posted about something that many of us are passionate about. I tried to point out to you that even though I don't know you I care enough about your safety to say that not wearing a seatbelt was dangerous. Your response was to call some of us names. I said it before and I'll bore you with my palaver again - if you don't like how people respond then reply in a mature fashion but don't start with the name calling and insults. You get a lot further when you don't act like someone who has no better way to express disagreement other than being peevish. You have shown your true colors so although your screen name may be nothing but style, from this point you are nothing but ignored. BTW, that means you can call me names and insult me to your hearts content but I won't have to read anything you ever post again. What a relief!

funny how everyone will prech safety in here and then leave replies on how to dissable your tpms(tire pressure monitoring system) because "the noise and light is annoying". They made the tpms mandatory(legally) in CA and Im sure most other states for your safety as well. Just thought it was funny and wanted to point it out
