I ordered Mopar rear air deflector couple of days ago. I finally found one for a decent price $66 shipped :pepper:. It should be here any day. I'll post pics once installed.

The jeep now, could you tell me the benefits of the rear air deflector?

I'm going mostly for looks but hope it works as described below. I had one installed on my GC and it worked and looked as described.

Mopar's Rear Air Deflector for the Jeep Patriot mounts on the rear liftgate to help keep the rear window cleaner. By directing a steady stream of air across the back of the vehicle while in motion, dirt and grime flows past the glass without settling. The attractive tinted deflector is made of shatter-resistant acrylic plastic.

someone is selling stu coils in the outpost if you are interested. also it look like the rear air deflector is facing backwards (like it will be less aerodynamic)

Have to drill holes, correct ? I was going to get the rear Air Deflector but do not want any more holes as I have two from the Wing that I just had to mount on the back of the Patriot. That was a brilliant idea on my part as the wing is now setting in my Closet, good investment hah.

You have to drill holes correct ? I already have a couple holes from the wing I put on the Patriot, brilliant idea that was on my part. The Wing is setting in my closet, good investment on my part. I have been looking at the rear air deflector for a couple years now but don't want to put any more holes in the Patriot.

I believe so. I haven't received yet. It's not that big of a deal to me. I've done before on my GC and have never had any problems/leaks. I see a lot of those installed on many SUV/CUVs around here. Plus it's a Mopar part so it was design for it and not to hurt/damage anything I would think.

Here are some take a ways from the installation. First of all, look through the brochure it came with, make sure all pictures make sense. Second, make sure you have 17/64 (7mm) drill bit. If you don't, go get one. I used the smaller bit first and then 17/64 to make the holes bigger. I used regular silicone for riv-nuts to prevent any rust. I found the riv-nut tool it came with pretty useless. The entire installation takes around hour and a half if you have all necessary tools handy. I'm pretty happy with the way it came out.

You did a nice job, I think it looks great. Nice Photos, I would like to see a photo from the back corner down the side. The rear deflector probably matches up real nice with the side window air deflectors.

Very nice! Did you have to move the roof basket forward?

Thank you! I didn't have to move the basket. It still sits as I put it 6 months ago.

Looks good! but my big questions is, does it work? When the roads are wet I get a continuous build up on the rear window, so was wondering if this would help?
Dixie, I'll have to get back to you on that one after it starts raining and then I'll be able to tell whether it makes any difference.

My Trooper had one integrated into the back of the roof, so it was quite sneaky. It worked awesome on that vehicle and made use of the rear wiper a rare thing. That being said it was a bigger opening on top and a smaller opening at the back, forcing more air over the rear window. I'm curious about how well the Patriots deflector works as well! If I get one, I think I would want to get it painted to match... but I don't know how durable the paint would be on that material
