hello everyone, my headunit in my 2011 jeep patriot has started doing some funky things and I was looking to upgrade. I dont like how aftermarket radios look in this car so I was looking into getting the factory one with a screen. Not sure if its touch screen or not. But I was just wondering if all the radio options share the same harness?

All the factory radio options will be plug and play, as far as the wiring goes, as long as you get one from a vehicle that uses a low speed CAN bus. Patriot, Compass (not the new generation), and Caliber for sure. Radios from vehicles that use a high speed CAN bus will not work, even though they look identicle. You would also need to visit a dealer to have the vehicle programmed for the radio.

You could also get an aftermarket radio that looks like factory. I went with an XTRONS Android Head unit in my Patriot and I absolutely love it. It's like having an Android tablet built into your dash. It also comes with everything needed to install it... wiring harness, CAN box, etc.

I bought a RHB radio with Navigation frim My Gig (Ebay) just to get the Nav feature. If you have Sirius capability the antenna will work well for the Nav feature. Totally plug and play and the install took about 15 minutes, if that. My unit looks new, works well, and holds a ton of music in memory along with a CD/DVD player. Price was about 250.00 as opposed to well over a grand from dealer. It does come from a donor vehicle so it is used but like I said, it looks and works great.

I actually went with a single din radio over a double din as I didn't think I needed to use double din due to the fact that I enjoy having a slot for my wallet and phone under. I paid about $120 with the wiring kit at a local store. Worth every moment of it!
