Thanks Gramps. Been wanting to find this info.

The MK's have a 5 on 4.5" (114mm) hole pattern and 39mm (1.535") of offset on the 16X6.5 rims which = approx 5.25" Backspacing. See chart and more info here: https://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html

The XJ also has a 5 on 4.5 hole pattern but the backspacing depends on which wheels you find.

Libertys(new) have the same bolt pattern, probably back-spaced differently as well.

a random post on jeepscanada.com (take it with a grain of salt):

"87-95 YJ's, 96-06 TJ's, 84-01 Cherokees, 02-98 Grand Cherokees and 02-07 Libertys all use 5 on 4.5" llug pattrern."

Can anyone confirm this? It would be great to have a list of jeep rims that fit the patriot.

I read in another post that "any 16" and larger Wrangler rim prior to '07 should fit our Patriots. The Liberty went to a 5 x 5" pattern in '08, so anything from a '02 thru '07 should fit our Patriots. "

Can anyone correct or add to this?

Polished,

Thanks for posting this..

One question that puzzles me. Do you think a rim with a more negative offset (sticking out further) is more or less likely to rub the plastic lip on a Pat?

As a real world example, I'm running some 16x8 (5"bs).. I tried tire size 255/65/16 and they would rub and on hard breaks would really rub.

On the contrary I am hearing of people running 245/70/16 (a taller tire but not as wide) on a 16x7(4"bs) with no rubbing on hard breaks. By contrast this taller thinner tire also seems to look wider on the truck as it seem to stick out.

Can anybody confirm, will this combination: 245/70/16 on 16x7(4"bs) rub on hard breaks or turns. At least one person is saying it only rubs on full lock and only in reverse.

thanks for any help or info!

The five spoke 17" aluminum wheels from the factory are 17 X 6.5J with a 39 mm offset. This is printed on the inside of the rim.

I measured a 5-3/8" backspacing, which is pretty close to the 5-1/4" backspacing that 39 mm is on the table above.

The centre hole (measured with a tape measure) is 67 mm. I might be off a mm or two.

Well, over a couple of years later and thanks to our commitment to research (that's how I call our inner desire of messing up with things that were just fine to begin with) we can now say these puppies fit...(if you are willing not to get scared by a very low clearance between the wheel and the brake caliper on the front wheels). but so did JeepingLG, Bwpakk, Sandstone & myself.

Hi everyone,I think that it will be useful to share all of our failed experiments to save time an efforts to our fellow jeepsters: I tried some 15" Canyons and found out they hit the caliper in the front so we can not use them w/o spacers...
thanks Ramouroum!

THESE DO NOT FIT:

  • 15x8 aluminum
  • 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern
  • Backspacing = 5.5" - this is probably why they don't fit
  • Optional wheel with 30" tire package
  • Offset = +25 mm

Just had Cooper Discoverer ATR's installed on a set of Ravine rims JeepinLG posted about. 235/70/15 is about the same diameter as 17" SRA's. Close to the same weight also (according to my el-cheapo hi-quality hanging scales for weighing fish).

Does anyone know if these wheels will fit a 2008 Patriot? They're from a 2009 Jeep JK (wrangler... right?) I am waiting for a response on tire size from the seller. But will the wheels fit? I have one bent wheel on my Patriot now and I want to replace them all (would prefer some MOAB's but anything will do because I need new tires soon).

You should check the bolt pattern. I believe JK's changed from 5 on 4.5 to 5 on 5 after 2008 - other forum users can set me straight on this. The Pat needs 5 on 4.5

Thanks guys. I will keep checking my local Craigslist for wheels. I would like to stay in the Jeep family when I pick up new wheels. Over the years I have gotten some good deals on wheels through Craigslist... Like a set of Toyota Supra TT 17" wheels for my Toyota Tacoma (free) and a set of Nissan Titan 18" wheels for my Nissan Hardbody (free).
