Patriot vs Compass

I brought my Patriot into the dealership for repairs(hit and run in a parking lot) and they provided me with a Compass in the meantime.
Although the ride is exactly the same, the power isn't. Way less sluggish than the pat. I put my foot down and it never revved above two rpms and had no problems moving forward. At takeoff with the pat, you can't put your foot down because it revs way over two to sometimes over three and just doesn't want to go. Once I get going I'm okay but it's still frustrating having these turtle takeoffs. I'm beginning to think that is why I'm getting such bad fuel mileage. I get a maximum 450 km on a full tank of gas...unacceptable as far as I'm concerned. I have had it checked out and they found nothing wrong.
Both vehicules are 4X4 North Editions.
Is this a normal power difference between the two or is the Pat just overall sluggish?

Just before I purchased this one, I had tried another one. This was back in Sept. 2011. I don't remember what its' acceleration was like.
When you accelerate, let's say pulling out of your driveway, how does your rpms read? Does it stay below two or does it go higher than that. With the Compass, I accelerated hard and it didn't go above two. With my Patriot, I have to accelerate softly otherwise high rpms.

What year is your Patriot?

There is a transmission flash out for earlier 2011's and up that fixes some drivability issues.
I have a 2011 2.4 CVT and it gets moving smartly enough at 2,000 rpms. however if you want to really get gone fast, yes, you must get the rpms up...this motor only makes its maximum power up around redline.

My two suggestions:
1) Reset your fuel map and on board computer by unhooking the battery negative cable for an hour or so, re-attach it and drive from there. This resets everything to factory settings and from there it will "learn" your driving style and build a new fuel map.
Looks like I'm going to be doing that about every four months or so...mine turns slowly into a slug although I wouldn't describe it like you do, I re-set it and all is fine. Sort of like taking your wife out to dinner once in a while, makes things like they used to be...for a while.

2) Sweetly inquire with your Dealer if you have the latest flash in your transmission programming. Get it if you don't. Your prior record of having complained about driveability will need to be brought to their attention...you can't just get it unless you are actually having driveability issues.

I had my 2010 patriot (FDI north edition) for two years and traded it in three weeks ago to a 2012 Compass also FDI north Edition. Both drive exactly the same. The only noticeable difference I saw was on the highway fuel economy, probably due to the better aerodynamics.
Externally I still think the Patriot looks a lot more manlier than the Compass, but I got a really good deal and came with all the bells and whistles the wife wanted :)
