Patriot Faster?

Just looked at the Consumer Reports for May and they had a article about small SUV's. In the 1/4 mile the Patriot was faster than all the others except for the Ford Escape which had a v6. Lets be glad for the small things.

"the little engine that could"

I'd be shocked if the Patriot was the fastest. The CVT helps make up for the relatively anemic 4 cylinder (compared to some of the 6 cylinder ones out there), but it still is far from fast. It may well be the quickest of the 4 banger mini-utes, but that isn't exactly a hard thing to do.

5 speed is faster than the auto.

Is this thread like saying "I'm the second fastest fat kid at school"

There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of creatures Chuck Norris has allowed to live.

Yeah...i almost snorted Diet Pepsi out of my nose laughing at those! I've got the book at home for use while in the "office", but www.chucknorrisfacts.com is awesome.. :)

Chuck Norris does not go hunting, because the word "hunting" implies failure. Chuck Norris goes killing. :smiley_thumbs_up:

Chuck Norris destroyed the periodic table, because he only recognizes the element of surprise.

It's good! Definitely worth at least the aural upgrade, but thankfully i'm also noticing a little extra midrange power. I can't tell you anything, numbers wise, but i'm happy with it. I wish I had installed it before the Rockstars, so I could better judge the seat of the pants feel, but i'd get it again.

I've noticed there are some cheaper intakes for sale on Ebay for the Jeep Compass...i think they'd work on the Pat.

I want to build a heat shield for mine eventually.

According to http://www.exoticcarsite.com/1-4_mile_calculator.htm with a 2.4L engine, the estimated times are:

4x2 manual = 16.19
4x2 auto = 16.39
4x4 manual = 16.49
4x4 auto = 16.63
That's is a very poor estimator. It doesn't even take into affect transaxle gearing which has a direct affect on wheel torque which has a direct effect on acceleration rate. The CVT in the MKs is very inefficient compared to the 5-speed. The CVT also does not work well with any estimator I've seen, even ones better than this.

I find it difficult to imagine that my Patriot is quicker than my Cherokee 4.0. It sure doesn't feel like it is.
Of course, the Patriot takes a bit to get under some power, the Cherokee gives you power right-the-hell-now.

Well me and a friend were driving together one day each in our own cars me in my Pat 2.4L and him in his Suzuki XL7 i think thats the model which has a V6 and we decided to try a lil race, we stopped at a red light and when it turn green we were off.

the pat was the first off the line then pulled quickly away with a car or 2 gap between us. so i can say the Pat is pretty quick but don't recommend doing so cause your still in a truck and brakes aren't the best in the Pat.
