Patriot and broken people

An unexpected benefit of the Jeep Patriot has manifested itself: as getting into the vehicle includes neither climbing into it nor lowering oneself down, it has turned out to be a handy vehicle for transporting someone with severe back pain or a busted knee into the hospital.

I would have preferred we not find out about this little benefit of our Jeep, but if someone does feel the need to break their knee or mess up their back, having a Patriot can make the whole experience a little bit more tolerable. Just another indication of how practical the vehicle is, I guess. :)

Unfortunatly , one of the reasons my Pat. had to go was lack of access for a disabled person. Some years ago my Mrs had her hips replaced & recently her right knee replaced. she was always comfortable with the seat & its height But!! The seat was set too far iside the car, the door didnt open wide enough, distance from the ground & interior sill depth was too much. Also the doors were too narrow & needed to be 2-3" wider.I'm afraid the Journey faired no better , she only attemted one ride in that.

However the access/ seat on the Avenger is a lot better so is the overall comfort. However she moans about the lack of grab handle , due to the side /roof airbags. I'm still looking for the perfect car for me to own/drive & her to sit in....lol...

However her little Skoda Fabia Wagon remains sat on the drive doing nothing ( gets fired up occassionaly) as she is still not healed enough to drive herself!!

I hear ya ...................

Hi Tony,
My first words to the salesman were I need a vehicle with enough ground clearance that entering and leaving would not give me hernia;)
So hence the riot. My son has a Sebring, a really nice, sporty looking vehicle with all the bells and whistles, but man oh man it's a devil getting in and out of.

I've been dealing with an injury for almost two years now that is exacerbated by having to sit at regular- or low-height seats. The height of the seat in my van was perfect, but unfortunately it was too much to maintain that vehicle. When I looked at the Patriot I hadn't even thought that far ahead, but after trying it out I knew it would work well for me. When I ordered it, I got the heated seats which have turned my Jeep into a therapeutic device to boot!

Of course, I've been healing this entire time, so I'm looking forward to the day I can just hop into the driver's seat without thinking about how much I can hurt myself. Soon after that I'd like to test the off-road capabilities; I don't even like slow-speed over a speed bump right now.

G - this is post 100!

I take my mother to the doc 2-3 times a month (she can drive-has a Caliber-but she doesn't know the town) & my lifted WJ is just too hard for her to get into, the Pat's much easier for her.
