Anyone interested in a summer, fall, or winter meet in north central PA?

We had one winter meet a few years ago, met some other Patriot folks from the forums, got some nice photos and video, and attendees got posters with photos from it.

There was not a lot of interest the last time I checked, so we have not met since, so just checking now to see if there is any interest.

I'm in :) gotta get some new rubber beforehand though, I'm still running the stock bologna skins(Firestone).

I need some new tires too. I got the stock tires and they are pretty bad offroad. I would love to go with you guys if I wasn't stuck in colorado. If any of you ever make it out this way, there are trails all over the place.

No real off-road trails around I can find, so far, so if no trails will be more of a Meet & Greet. I did take one road through a state forest on Friday, nice road, but would be tough if anyone came the other way as it was one lane only and very few places to pull over. Saw 2 beaver dams on the way and nice streams.

We could drive into the PA Grand Canyon for some photos though.

And I'm up for whatever other folks want to do. And I'll keep looking for trails.

I would assume there are plenty of places to camp around? I am thinking about bringing my oldest son and pitching a tent.

I might get to Colorado sometime too, My wife's sister lives there, and I know she wants to go for a visit sometime.

Lot's of folks like to come to the mountains in the fall for the foliage. Beautiful scenery when the leaves are are all colors, and a bit cooler too. Just tough for me to pick a time in fall, as I hunt birds and archery hunt for deer.

Still trying to gauge if there's enough interest in a meet, so let me know folks.

Summer? Nice places to visit

Fall? Foliage is beautiful

Winter? Snow covered mountains, and good 4wd use

And I will make posters from photos of the meet, like for the winter meet a couple years ago. You can ask Butch and Todd about the posters.

Just giving this thread a bump, if we do something in summer I need to start planning soon, fall is not as bad but my fall weekends get filled quickly. My friends always want to come to hunt with me, or just come visit to enjoy the fall colors, so my weekends book quickly for fall.

If you have a PA license, there are several places to fish. Do you trout fish? The Allegheny river near me is good, and the stream that runs through the PA Grand Canyon is ok. And not too far south of me is the 1st fork of the Sinnemahoning, and a good place to fish is right in Sinnemahoning State Park.

There are many state parks and private campgrounds around, even two parks on the sides of the PA Grand Canyon, and the closest is Cherry Springs state park.

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&t... are also no good. So if you have any interest in meeting, please let me know.

I'd be interested in this. Still haven't met anyone else with a Riot. I'm out by Philly, so the PA Grand Canyon is probably the farthest i'd be willing to go.

No serious off-road trails are alright to me....but we need to try to find some places for MUD!

I'm not far from the Grand Canyon. I just came up from Philly yesterday. Was a really nice ride, and I found gas for $3.53 a gal on the way, bonus. I went past the Little League museum and the buildings for all the little league tournaments and stuff in Williamsport.

And there's a real nice scenic overlook as you come down into the town too.

From there to Wellsboro

Then right past the Grand Canyon, onto route 6, from there I'm just over Denton Hill.

I'm still willing to meet sometime this summer, but most of my weekends are booked now.

Maybe in the fall? Peak fall foliage time would be around the first week of October.

Let me know if you're interested.

Cool, I travel through that area often. My mother in law lives in Warren, and my friend has a camp just below the damn at Kinzua. The whole north central are is beautiful in the fall. I like the PA Grand Canyon are too for foliage.

I'd still be willing to meet up with folks in the fall and/or winter. Leaves are starting to change already, but usually the peak is around the first week of October. Also the beginning of archery season, so some places get a bit more crowded. There's a lot of fall festivals around then too.

About 3.5 hours from the Pittsburgh area too. Not sure from Philly, but Todd has been there maybe he'll let us know how long the drive is? I know it was a really nice ride when I drove from my sister's house near Philly, I just don't remember how long it took.

There are inexpensive places to stay around the area too.
