In the Jeep I just bought (08) I went to use the washer fluid and nothing. I couldn't hear the motor running for it either. So when I got home I popped the hood and had my wife turn it on. The wipers go but no fluid and I cant hear the motor trying to pump.

Any idea's? I checked the fuse. I guess the motor is just gone. I almost feeling like pulling into the lot where i bought it, but the deal made it very known that it was sold as is.

I will tomorrow, I checked to make sure that it was a solid connection and not corroded, which it looks good. Just need to grab my VOM and check the voltage. I see ebay has one on it for $51 + 12.50 shipping. Not really what I was looking to spend. I am sure its a lot more at the dealership.

This happened twice on my previous car. If you don't hear the motor, it's the washer pump. These things die easily according to the Volvo dealership I had mine fixed at regardless of whether it's new or old. It can be good for a week the same way that it can be good for a decade.

I've had this happen in many of my vehicles. Sometimes the sprayer nozle can get gummed up. Carry a safety pin in your glove compartment. When it happens, poke it in the hole of the nozzle to open it up again Short of pump failure, this has worked for me every time.

My rear one stopped working, discovered that the hose was coming off one of the connectors under the hood, left side of engine bay. Zip tie and it works properly again.
I guess the rubber hose stretched a bit and the pressure would blow it off.

@Poster - the motor may be going out
@hitzy - thats crazy. So did you have to take the third brake light off and zip tie it onto the light?
