New Tires Mounted Today

So it has finally come to get a new set of tires for the Patriot.
I've tossed around the idea of lowering and lifting. I got all the information I'd need to do either or.
I've decided to stay stock height since I plan on keeping the Patriot for about one more year before going back to a truck. No need to spend more than needed if I'm just going to get into something else.
The Wrangler SR-A has been fairly good to me up until I hit about 40,000 miles. Since that point, they have been really bad.
I ordered the Geolandar A/T-S 225/65/17. I wanted to just get a hair bit bigger tire but not deal with the chances of rubbing and all the other BS people talk about. After all the reading I felt this was a good size to go with.
They go on after work along with an alignment.

I'll post up Thursday or Friday depending on my schedule.
Glad these are going on today since we are suppose to get an undetermined amount of snow tomorrow. Could be >1", could be 5"+

No, getting tires installed .... Kuhmos. For my size I have nearly no options, heck DiscountTire only offers a single brand (Nitto).

So I got the tires mounted up on Tuesday night. They also did a full alignment for me. I always do this when getting new tires on any of my cars/trucks.
The old, stock Wrangler SR-A (215/65/17) were so bad. I didn't realize how bad until they were off the Jeep.

I went with this size so I had a slightly larger tire than stock. I've done a lot of reading and looking around before I made my decision.

Wednesday I put on just about 200 miles on them.

They ride very nice, smooth and quiet. I was very impressed.
Out here in IL we got some snow but a lot of rain. They held the road so well. It was just like when I first bought it. I felt planted to the road once again.

As far as fitment, I have ZERO issues at all. No rubbing, scrapping, bumping or anything. This is at full lock, both ways. Going forwards or backwards. In 4x4 Lock and normal. Going over larger bumps or smaller ones. ZERO issues.

How they look is very nice as well. You can tell they are a bit wider just on how they look on the rim. It has that slight "bulge" look to them. It gives the Jeep a fairly nice stance now when looking at it.

I put on 3 pics, the first two are with the new tires, the third was when I first got it with the stock tires. I can get better ones later if requested.

This is the thread I've been looking for. Do you notice much of a speedo difference?

Someone asked why you didn't go with the 225/60's, was there that much of a size difference?

Did you look at any other brand of tires in your 225/65 size?

Thanks for posting this thread, it's very informative for those of us who don't want to buy 15" or 16" rims and tires....just tires.

They look great. I am sitting around 31k miles and have been thinking about what tires I want when the time comes to replace. I don't like the idea of buying new rims so I have been keeping an eye out for these kinds of threads.

When the time comes to get new tires this is what I'm going with as well. They look great and fill the wheel well. It's a nice little 1.3" lift over stock without having to deal with rubbing, spacers, speedo way off, pinchweld mod...
