I'm actually in NY. Is $23K after tax a reasonable offer for me to make on this vehicle linked.

 

Sport FDI or FDII go for less than 20k here in CA. Latitude starts around 22k+. For that particular vehicle I'd offer $18k before taxes.

I know Texas is a but different but bought 2014 sport fd2, power package, vehicle tracking, tint, and some other options for $19.9k.

If you can get it for the same price as a sport then yes. The bells and whistles the latitude comes with I wouldn't go out o my way to pay for. My FD1 Sport with the options I have work perfect for me.

 

It depends on options you like or need. Go to jeep.com and build the one you'd like. That would give you an idea of the price.

 

This vehicle looks like it has everything I would want, it doesn't appear to have the CVT though.

Looks like a FD1. I would walk in and offer the $18,500 and not pay more the $20,000 for that patriot.

 

2014 model comes with 6 speed auto and only FDII comes with CVT.

 

I hate to sound like an idiot but how much more should I expect to pay for the FDII?

 

depending on the trim about 500 bucks. but I would only get the FDII if you actually plan on doing some real off roading with it. It comes with a large mpg hit, which if you go off roading is worth it. Otherwise the FDI is very good for 95% of people who want 4wd.

 

Is it safe to assume I should be able to get a Sport FDII for no more than $20K?

 

Just shoot for $3000-$4000 off msrp and you should do good cause option vary widely to give an exact number.The aluminum wheels are an upgrade wheel and tire group. I have the on my 13 and my wife's 11 compass. And don't be afraid to walk out if the don't come close to your number you want to pay. I have walked out on alot of deals and they call the next day wanting to meet my offer.

 

If you can get a FD 2 for 20g you jump all over that lol.

This is the exact setup I am going to go in on Tuesday and have them order me if I can get a good deal on the vehicle.

The price on Jeep.com, built how I want it is $23,003.

This is the FDII with the following:

Trailer tow prep group
All weather capability group
FD II Off Road Group (as mentioned above)
Power Value Group

If I offer $19K and set $20K as my maximum price is this doable? Has anyone paid $20K for a FDII outfitted like above?

I don't want to overpay but I also don't want to walk out of a half dozen dealerships because my price is unrealistic.

 

$20K is where I need to be for this vehicle. I figure I'm going to take about a $4K hit on trading my car in and the Jeep will be a secondary vehicle for me which is why I don't want to spend more than $20K on it.

 

When I go to Jeep. Com and "build" a Patriot, when I select the FDll off-road group it tacks on over 3 grand to the base price. That also automatically includes a/c and aluminum wheels. Is thee a way to get FDll without the other "options"?

 

No... 1000 of that is the CVT transmission, a central part to the FDII package, and the 17" rims are what they put their "off road" tires on. as it is part of the extra clearance over a non FDII patriot. AC, i'm sure that the number of people who what FDII and do not wand AC is less than .01%.

 

I can understand that, and yes i am in the .01% on the ac subject, live where heat is often needed in july and a/c never is. I am trying to decide if i should buy my sport up here in AK Where I know of several to choose from without a/c or go outside to WA where there may not be any non ac available.

 

I just bought 2 Pats. 2014 FD1 Latitudes 4X4's for "20 even" before tax and license here in Nor Cal. Seemed a steal to me considering they retailed at over 25. After seeing the paperwork, we paid about "300 and change" over invoice. Seemed good to me. Love the heated seats in the Latitude........ Makes for a nice slumber super-commute @ 5:30 a.m. with the seat reclined!..........and the new 6 speed is hard to beat. Seems to predict what you want. If you don't need the low range of the FD II in your daily life, go for the FDI and the 6 speed. 3 tanks in we're getting 27.5 MPG.

How much effort did it take for you to negotiate your way down to $20K?

 

Not a lot and it shocked me. I walked in, test drove a Pat and liked it, so did the wife and friend. Told him I had my financing lined up through a CU, I'll be looking at a Patriot, go next door to look at a Kia Sportage and a Honda CRV. Once I find what I want, then I'll hit all the "like" dealers to see who will give me the best price on the vehicle I choose. Give me your best shot.
I would have jumped on 21 for a nice Latitude, being as though I've been internet hunting for quite a while. He came back with 20. I was kinda shocked. It was hard to hold a poker face, gotta admit.
We left, wandered the lot. Talked for a while, walked back in and bought two. One for us and one for the friend. The "closer" (bad cop) almost blew the deal out the door when he said he couldn't go for 20 and tried to jump the price to 21,6. As usual, I had to blow up at the guy and he left. Needless to say, we got them for the original offered price of 20.
Car buying is never fun but if you stick to your guns, it's worth it.

Understood, I'mnot fat but do reali ze it takes a certain amount of thermal mass to keep the core temp up! I lived up here all my 58 years, 50 in Fairbanks, probably one of the coldest towns in North. America so am used to it. I did spend one summer in CA and about died! I came away from that realizing that I prefer 70 degree , just like where I set my stat at home.

Also there are no bad weather days in Alaska, only piss poor clothing choices!

 

A FDII is going to be impossible to find around here.

No dealer has one within a 200 mile radius.

Looks like I'll settle for a FDI, I don't plan on doing any real off-roading with it anyway.

 

I knew that was gonna happen, When I was looking before I bought mine you couldnt kind one even if you wanted too. Did you get a price on a FD1 ?

 

It doesn't look like this will happen. I've called or stopped by every Jeep dealer within an hour of here and the lowest I can get is $21,700.

Genesee Valley Jeep pissed me off this evening. Quote me a price on the phone of $21,100 and then when I got there the price was over $23K.

Canandaigua Jeep just quoted me their bottom price of $22,458 after all rebates and their "friends and family" discount. Vehicle MSRP on the Jeep quoted is $22,850 yet after a $1,500 rebate and their friends and family discount it only knocks off $400 because they tack on a $995 destination fee!

 

Is that a AWD Latitude. If it isn't a Sport AWD nicely equipped with wheel group you might tell them 22 grand delivered. I paid 20 grand delivered with steelies but it has power group and AWD.

 

No, that is a Sport model!

I really wanted the all weather package, can day time running lamps and tow hooks be added aftermarket?

 

Daytime running lamp might just be a module you can add in later. The front bumper you can install tow hooks easily. You will need a different bumper to get the rear tow hook in. Better off installing a hitch and using that. i would try what i would suggested in my other post and even if you can only get them down another $500, I would go with it for $20,500.

Tow hooks can be added later for $170 (just did mine few weeks ago). Daytime running lights would require programming. I'd ask a dealer if it's possible to program afterwards. Good luck!
