New Minor Mod - License Plate Holder

Hi All,

I would prefer to have nothing on the front. Except that there are 2 huge! black holes for a license plate. Sooooo....

I bought a Cherokee License Plate holder off of Ebay for 10 bucks, and the 'Jeep' Plate was $7 more.

IMO, it looks better than a plate with a frame around it and MUCH better than just a plate by itself.

Not sure. It wasn't the most professional eBay sale and page. The description said.....

"You are bidding on a new Jeep Cherokee front license plate mount. The mount is black plastic and comes with the screws and is in the original package. It should fit most years/models of Jeep Cherokee/Liberty"

I checked out the crappy pic the best I could and sort of took a gamble on the fit. Luckily, it turned out nice.

I looked, but that seller does not have anymore.

Cheers,
Jim

is the plate parallel with the bumper or does it angle down? cant really tell from the photos. also, does it line up to the existing holes? can you get a side angle shot?
thanks in advance.

The holder contours nicely with the bumper and the plate is perpendicular to the ground.

There are 3 mounting holes in the plate holder along with the normal 2 holes that go thru the top of the license plate.
Since there are no mounting holes on the Patriot except for the 2 for the license plate, I used 1/4" x2" Lag bolts to hold both the plate and plate holder on.
1/4" is the normal size thread for plates, but I had to go longer to reach thru.

Cheers,
Jim

Grabbed it on eBay also. But I also saw them at jparts.com and justforjeeps.com

Acrylic/mirror

Here is another type, since they had already drilled the holes in my bumper in Virginia, put thier paper tag on when I went to pick it up. We don't use front plates in SC, so had to cover them with this. the holder came from autozone and the plate online at www.autoplates.com

Greetings from over in Myrtle Beach Alex.

That is really nice. VERY nice.

I think I might get one and switch it up every now and then.

Cheers,
Jim

Well, if its on the front, can you mirror the letters, although not sure if you could see it in a rear view?

I was tempted to get one of those variable message ones, then you could click a) get off my a$$
b) Insert favorite sports team here

These plate holders are a good idea, I might grab one for mine even though I live a two-plate state (thankfully) - I paid the extra fee for vanities so I might as well get double the visibility!

By the way, does anyone else wish that the liftgate had 4 mounting holes for the license plate, like the Cherokee did? Plates have been known to be stolen in my neighborhood, so I use theft-resistant bolts, but they're more effective when there's 4 of them.
