Me likey...how many inches are the tips? Have any vids/sound files?

What kind of muffler did you use? I ordered a Flowmaster Series 80 and a pair of 4 inch tips.

I'm going to notch/cutout the bumper for the tips to have a nice tight exit.

Looks really good, though...kind of Range Rover-ish.

Well i got a Flowmaster don't know the series but, what i did was i cutted the first catalyst... or how ever you call that. Then replaced it with the Flowmaster. From there just trew 2 pipe down to the back and attached the 3 inch tips. I also thought about getting 4-inch but thought they look to big.

Did you cut the catalyst off or just cut the pipe behind it? If you cut it off 1. you will of course get your check engine light on constantly and 2. if you are in the USA I wouldn't go around telling too many people you removed it because it's a $2,500 federal fine for removing a functioning catalytic convertor.;)
The cat is that round muffler looking item up near the engine in the pic. We had a customer who was a bad boy doing things he wasn't supposed to with cats and ended up with over $26,000 in fines :)

Did you saw a hole in the muffler and add another pipe? OR, Did you divide the exhaust pipe and use 2 new mufflers? Or is the left one a dummy? I do like the pipes coming out straight rather than curved toward the ground like original.

I think he used 1 muffler in the center of the vehicle where the resonator is, a single in dual output muffler or SISO with y-splitter and 2 pipes to the rear, plus tips. Since he has the 2WD, there is enough room for a muffler vs. resonator where we have a driveshaft in the channel plus the axle in the rear.

Pictures would be helpful.

The law against removing a functioning cat has been around since at least the early 1980's because folks were taking their cats off or gutting them--the theft problem that is going on now where they are stealing them even off car lots is new because there is so much more precious metal in them now. When your cat goes bad you have to replace it-you can't legally just leave it off. I had a '80 J20 and it did have a cat--according to my converter catalogs '79 and UP J series trucks should have had cats and '81 CJ8 & up should have as well. If yours is earlier then you are lucky. Also not every county in the country has smog check requirements so if you have no cat it wouldn't matter unless you happen to get pulled over for a random smog test(California does this in some counties). Get pulled over for a speeding ticket and mouth off to the cop-guess what he might decide to go over your car for all kinds of violations and voila you just got popped. The folks who USUALLY got the fines were the muffler shops who got caught by the BAR or state agency when someone turned them in for taking cats off.

In the old days of BB style convertors & the other old style cats performance was severly restricted. The new cats on the market today are more free flowing and the cars are tuned to run with the cat & computer. When I sold cats in CA you would hear all the time who was getting nailed--there is a magazine that some of the shops got that had a "Wall of Shame" section that had all the shops who got nailed and their fines. The largest fine I ever saw was a shop down in southern CA that got about $46,000 in fines after being warned twice. In CA the Air Resource Board would run stings where they would send cars into shops for a cat and see if they could get the shop to put the wrong cat on or take one off. They would also try to get smog shops to pass cars that wouldn't normally pass. Gotta watch out in states like that and quite a few states want to follow CA's lead:(

Big deal! I have had dual exhaust on my Pat for almost two years.
HawgGuy, what system is that? FlowMaster or MagnaFlow? Two muflers? Did you notice any performance change? MPG Change? Did they have to calibrate anything? Will this void any part of the warranty? If I can ask, why did you do it? Do you think it matters if you are 2.0 or 2.4? How rich is your sound? It doesn't sound like a souped up honda or a rotery engine right?

Does anybody have video and sound of the Patriot with flowmaster or Magnaflow on it? Really valuable to have this.

Thanks Much!
