NEED MORE LEG ROOM!!

My biggest complaint is that the driver seat has crappy leg room. I have the power seats plus that pull handle to make the seat sit higher or lower. I noticed that if I go very low, I gain a tiny bit of leg room, but then I become really low.

Are there any tricks or secrets? Am I S.O.L.?

there is someone on the forum that added about 2in of leg room i think by moving the bump stop back to a new hole, however it was for a nonelectric seat, try doing a quick search to see if it pops up

Heck !! you must be tall or have long legs ....The Patriot has the most driver legroom of any car I've owned. It may be to do with the fact that the UK spec has the steering wheel on the wrong side , so we dont get a foot rest & accelerator is in the right hand wheel well.

Answer to worm: Because it's not all about me. It is, however, all about wife and kids.

I'm 6 feet exactly. I like lots of room. My caliber has more! I wondered if there was something wrong with my seat; perhaps the rails were blocked or not positioned properly.... who knows.

I solved a lot of problems asking silly litte questions before. Worth a try.

I am 6'6" and I bought the Patriot full well knowing I'd need to move the seat back. I need to move the seat in all vehicles I buy except for my Ram pickups. The Patriot and Compass have a lot of headroom which is great. And it gets double the mileage of most pickups so I will move the seat. I have the '11 Latitude X with the 6 way power seat. I pulled the seat out yesterday to gander at what can be done to get 2" or a little more. In order to keep the rear bolt areas stock to the body so as to not ruin the rear seat foot room I will need to completely re-do the slide brackets. The manual seats are easier as I have done a Caliber seat before. I'll post up what I did once I get some time to do it hopefully next weekend. It looks like the rear bolt down brackets will be cut off and welded further forward and then some extension of an equal amount will be added to the front. Of course to do any welding on this it'll need to be disassembled. What I find funny is the power seat has about 8-10 inches of movement and when in the furthest forward mode I don't see how any human can sit in it. Maybe a chimp.

I'm 6'1" and have adequate leg room. Of course the seat is as far back as it can go, I have it raised about an inch.

I purposely shrugged off the Pat thinking it would be too small inside for @ 6'3". Then I decided just to sit in one at the stealership, lo and behold, pretty damn roomy-including plenty of headroom. I don't keep the seat all the way back, but I am also very thin...so is your beer belly in the way?

If never seen a combo power/manual seat like that. Mine is electric all the way for movement. I am doing mine this weekend hopefully and I'll post up pictures on what I did. I have moved seats back on all my vehicles over the last 30 years with the exception on my pickups. They are all different, some easy, some hard. But all seats can be moved back.

Why did You buy it if you can't fit in it comfortably ?
In my case, and probably the OP's, cars are not made for people with long legs. When I shop for a car I look at headroom. Headroom is tough to fix if there ain't enough of it. Lowering the seat to the floor can be uncomfortable. The Patriot has huge headroom. The legroom for the large majority of folks is ample. For some it's not. Sure my Ram has much more room. But the Patriot gets double the mileage therefore I buy it knowing the seat will be moved back.

3/4" ain't much extra room. I had the manual seat on my '07 Caliber and I moved it back 2.5 inches. I can't remember exactly what I did, but I do remember if was just drilling a couple new holes for the catch to seat in and removing and remounting the stops. I now have the power seat and it looks like a bigger job. I just ain't been able to get at it yet.

I found that if I raise the seat up all the way, it gives me more leg room than if the seat is lower, and all the way back in both cases. Headroom is great either way. I like that the pillar is right beside me, makes me feel more secure.

Can somebody help a girl out? :/ I'm pretty small, 5'5" and my knees are always pressed up against the knee thing. If I put my seat back I can't reach the pedals. I got this car after being in a very bad accident because it was supposed to be "safer" but with my knees jammed up against the thing under the steering wheel... I don't feel very safe. My Dad test drove it for me and said I should buy it. (I was on crutches at the time.) Is there an easy way to move the seat down? It's a 2008 Patriot, no electric windows, doors, seats, etc.

When I first saw the long handle for manual seat height, the salesman was sitting in the driver's seat with the door opened. I asked him about it and he grabbed it and started jacking himself up and down. I thought, "That's got the be the HOAKIEST thing I've ver seen!"...and kinda chuckled it off.
Now?....hoakie or not....it works awesome! Between up/down/back/forth/tilt...it makes for a multitude of different seating positions for the super-commute.
