So, found out about the Patriot a couple weeks ago while thinking of changing cars... current vehicle is a RAV4 '98 AWD... test drove one the other day and liked it a lot... also like the price and new warranty deal...
Need some help from you guys (experts!) on what I should be looking at as well as whether I should be making a move soon...
My usual vehicle use -
Lots of hwy driving, about 20-25k miles/yr
Hauling girlfriend, friends, dog, camping gear, etc.
Perhaps towing small boat (~750#)
Mostly paved roads, some dirt/gravel, no offroading
Don't really want or need 4x4
Absolutely require -
Good gas MPG (one of the reasons I don't like the Rav is it gets about 22-24 due to fulltime AWD)
Air conditioning
Auto (or in this case, CVT) so the lady can drive it
Would like -
Cruise control
Don't care -
Other options (I can roll up windows, I need the exercise!)
Right now, I'm looking hardest at the 2007 4x2 2.4L Sport with CVT and Air... the MSRP is 17010, invoice 15845 and with the 500 rebate and some negotiating, I think I can get a good deal in the $15xxx range (hoping for 15000 flat, but that's probably just hoping!)... would there be better deals a month or two down the road when the 2008s actually hit the lots? A couple of the dealers around Oregon have some that are pretty close to what I'm looking for...
Speaking of which, would it be worth it for me to consider the 2.0L? One of the local dealers seems to have a glut of these...which might mean a better deal for me. The gas mileage improvement is stated as 4mpg, but I wonder if I'd see that in real-world driving? Conversely, will it be a problem for me wanting to tow the little boat? Can't imagine so, I tow it with the 120HP RAV, lol...
How about waiting for the 2008s? I hear that air is going to be standard on the 2008s? Is that correct? I would really like cruise based on the amount of highway driving I do, but if it's not going to be included on a reasonably priced option package... Are there any places out there I can find exact specs for the 2008s? I am a little reluctant to get an 08 as I'd probably be paying a premium for the new model year....
Thanks for all your help (even if no one answers this, I've already gotten a ton of good info from these forums
