My 2010 Patriot “refresh” project

Since I spent an arm and a leg on a new transmission and suspension work (and more) about a year ago, and with my interior being pristine still (thanks to heavy meguiars usage from 2010-2013), I’ve decided to keep the riot until it no longer operates and to perform the following work to make it look “new”:

1) Repair/repaint any scratches
2) Replace all light assemblies
3) Replace all interior and exterior bulbs
4) Install 10 inch touchscreen
5) New wheels/tires
6) Full debadge
7) Well needed detailing

I’m also considering painting all exterior plastics to match the paint. Tires, I’m thinking small 15/16 inch wheels and fat tires but I’ll see. Currently have silver aluminum wheels and I hate the contrast with the black paint. Also the emblems have to go. They too are silver, including body molding, since it’s a latitude, and I hate it now.

I want the Riot to be all black with clean lines. I’m considering smoked taillights, halo headlights, and a black 3rd brake light but for now I kept it stock. Pictures attached. I started work today.

My OEM headlights are cloudy and yellow. I’ll clean them but for now the new set will work. One of my OEM turn signals has water from sitting, I guess, so I’m just swapping out both. My 3rd brake light, you see what the sun did to it. The old versus the new one. Crazy.

I will show comparison pictures on the other lights and show a before and after of the vehicle once done.

Update!

I will attach more pictures tomorrow. Too tired today.

Today I was able to remove all Jeep emblems, latitude badges, and body side moldings. They removed quite easily due to the outside temperature. Finished up by washing all vehicles at this property. The issue now is tons of adhesive from the body side moldings. I will deal with it tomorrow.

The Patriot looks 10 times better being all black and with no cheap badges (pictures tomorrow will show just how cheap the latitude badge was). I have 2 sets of black Jeep emblems and may put them. Currently undecided.

Also was able to do an annoying PCM, ignition coil, and spark plug replacement on a Ford (one of the worst designed vehicles), remove seized mower blades, weld a mower deck back on, replace spark plugs and oil change in mower, and use the pressure washer on 5 vehicles. Still wasn’t as bad as pressure washing the house yesterday.

Tomorrow? Remove adhesive from the Patriot, remove bumper to replace headlight assemblies and turn signal assemblies, replace all interior/exterior bulbs, and then sleep for 7 days.

So in the pictures we have the Latitude badges. These were extremely ugly on the Patriot and looked like cheap stickers. They came off like cheap stickers too. That’s why the first one is broken into pieces.

All of the rubber black gunk is from the body side moldings. The leftovers is what I’m cleaning off today.

Lastly you see the body side moldings which are just rubber pieces, the hood JEEP logo and the rear 4x4 logo.

ALL DONE!

Again, did a poor job documenting the work because I’m TIRED, but two days ago I completed the full debadging of the Patriot, and today I was able to replace the spark plugs, replace the ignition coils, replace ALL exterior bulbs, replace the headlight assemblies, and replace the turn signal assemblies.

The entire job today took me about 4.5 hours, by myself, constant breaks into the house, fighting with the dog, etc. The hardest part is reattaching the bumper — in my opinion. Also removing the bulbs is somewhat annoying as well. Don’t forget to keep up with the screws, push pins, etc.

My Patriot looks 10x better now with clear headlights, clear turn signals, and no emblems. Some pictures are attached below. Again, was too tired to take many so I’ll try to update with the finish product.

Oh yeah, I slid on mud and hit a tree once, lol so that’s why the bumper whatever looks bent lol.

If anyone cares, just did a full interior detailing, replaced the license plate bulbs (I forgot to do this when I did the exterior bulbs), and all interior bulbs. All that’s left is the exterior detailing and I’ll provide complete pictures. Yay I did it.
