245/65-17. For the price I don't think they can be beat, and I think unless you go to a MT tire, I don't think there is a better performing tire, especially if you are going to keep your 17" rims. They are a discount tire exclusive. they are very similar in tread pattern as the falken wild peaks, but have a 3ply sidewal vs 2ply. and in that size they are $31 cheaper per tire in my area than the geolanders. in the 235/65-17 they are only $3 cheaper.

They will also match the shipped price of tirerack. so if you find a tire you like better, and its cheaper shipped (so including the cost of shipping) they will match that price.

Edit: why wait? go get new tires, and sell your olds ones on craigs list for 75 bucks each! they have enough tread on them to make them valuable as 2nd hand tires.

I like Hankook Dynapro ATMs and was a close to buying them a while ago but then I traded Lee-Roy in a few days before I pulled the trigger. In the sizes I was looking at, they were cheap but idk about a 225/65/17 to 245/75/17 sizes.

I'm out of town this weekend with my Patriot. I opened the hood to top off the washer fluid and noticed the damn dealership left the battery cover / air intake cover off. They had it set on top of the engine. That's great to know after a long drive. The plugs used to lock it down are now gone. I'll be calling them shortly about this.

I've had no bad experience with my dealer yet (except it takes them 2+ hours to do an oil change) but with my saab, I had to go through and look over my whole engine after every repair. They left tools, didn't hook stuff back up, but stuff on backwards, etc.... One of the reasons I got rid of it. Not because I didn't like the car a lot, I LOVED it. but I couldn't rely on the dealer to do the work properly.

You were talkin about tires a few days back...how much life is left in your stockers? JC lol the tire size you're looking into will definitely need spacers. Those are pretty wide for a Pat. AIC has 245s if I remember correctly. Those are pretty wide!

Not sure how much life.. Still a decent amount of tread left. On the positive side its probably a good thing since i'd have to sink a good amount of money on them should I want good tires. Probably couldn't do that anytime soon since the baby costs are astronomical.

The bad thing is I hate looking at the large gap where more tire should be sitting :p.

Haha lemme shop around and see what tires are cheaper in that size ;)

*edit:
Looking on TreadDepot.com ( http://www.treaddepot.com/tirelist.html?quickfind=2356517 )
Cooper Discoverer AT3s - $130
Toyo Open Country A/T II - $131
Kumho Road Venture AT - $140

Looking on Discount Tire Direct ( http://www.discounttiredirect.com/d...=17&counter=1&sw=false&tt=false&fcpr=&fclr=&fcsr=&fcs=false&fcb=&pager.offset=0 )
Hankook Dynapro ATM (my favorite) - $137
Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S - $164
Falken Wild Peak A/T - $169

Looking on TireRack.com ( http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?skipOver=true&width=235/&ratio=65&diameter=17 )
Kumho Road Venture SAT - $133
Kumho Road Venture AT - $136 (chaper than the Tread Depot place I like)
Yokohama Geolandar A/T-s - $142 (cheaper than Discount Tire Direct)
Firestone Destination A/T - $154
Bridgestone Dueler A/T - $167
Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2 - $179
Michelin LTX A/T 2 - $184

Okay, that killed some time at work...now I'm bored again haha I'm like a pro when it comes to shopping for tires.

I looked in SC:

Flaken Rocky Roads:
235/65-17:
$153
245/65-17:
$130
Yokohama Geolanders
235/65-17
$163
245/65-17
$170

if you go with the Falkens, you save $40 a tire, just by going with the 245/65-17's over the geolanders, and $10 a tire if you go with the 235 size. but since the 245's are cheaper, I would go with them... I don't know if you can beat a $130 AT tire...

bfg only has at is in the 245, they are 155, and 161 for the rugged trail/terrian.

Silent armors ar 180 bucks...

Tire rack's cheapest is 134 + shipping, and that is for a set of khumo's. which.... NO thank you...

Sooooo.... I still think the falken's are the best for price as well as a decent off road option... if you want a more agressive look you're going to have to pay for it.

Because the 245/65/R17 is such a uncommon size. And I'd imagine they aren't that loud since they don't have a bulky, spread out M/T type tread. They'd probably be a little louder than stock I'd imagine.

I didn't measure, but they seem to be the same as the crappy sra's as far as road noise, but they 'wander' a bit more. I dont remember this with my old tires, but i has them on there for like 2300 miles is all. So they pick up a grove in the road and stick with it, not sure if that is the tread pattern or weight. And you'll feel the added weight of the tire. But that would be true with any at tire.
