Low Fuel Light Question

Hello. I was driving home with my 2008 Pat. Limited tonight. I was watching the miles until empty count-down and was at about 31. I know that as soon as you hit 30, you get the chime, and the little gas light comes on and the text on the screen no longer says "x miles" until empty, but rather "Low Fuel".

While driving home, I hit the 30 miles remaining and nothing happened, then a few moments later switched to the "Low Fuel" text. However, I never got a chime and my "Low Fuel" light never came on? Any idea what this could be? Nothing has changed on my Pat in regards to the electronics, so I couldn't imagine that something is wrong?

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers!

The miles to empty and fuel light are not directly connected. I have had it say low fuel before the light came on. Drive 5 more miles, you'll see the light... or just fill it up ;)

Not really sure, I but I know it depends on how you're driving. I've gotten the low fuel light, driven another 24 miles and ran out of gas. However, with the same patriot I've driven about 53 miles with the light on.

AFMCronnie - You're right, the Pat is pretty good on gas. I bought the Pat. last year and it seems like this is the first time I have had to fill it up since haha.

MrJeep, you were exactly right. This is the first time that has happened to me where the miles to empty & low fuel light/chime didn't seem to be directly related to one another. I drove to work today and right near the end of my street is when the light came on and heard the ding. I ended up filling up, so no more chimes or lights for another 300+ miles.

Thanks to everyone for your help! I really appreciate it!

Cheers,

It is odd. My light goes on at 11.5 gallons used like clockwork. Leaving 2 gallons. The one time I trusted it and drove 45 miles at 28 MPG (2 gallons 56 miles) I ran out of gas.
