Just got back from Camp Jeep with better gas mileage

We just arrived back in St. Louis from Camp Jeep in Virginia. We had a great time although we (Patriots) were outnumbered about a thousand to one by Wranglers. We did a trail ride with 31 Wranglers and 2 Cherokees and only got hung up once in a steep ditch. I was able to back out and pile some rocks in front of one wheel and make it through. The trail guides must not have thought a non-trail rated 4wd would make it, as they stationed one of their recovery Jeeps right behind us in the middle of the string of vehicles. Jeep puts on a great show at one of these events. They had two concerts, one with Tim McGraw and one with the B-52's. On the way back we passed 4000 miles on the odometer and got up to 26 MPG for the first time since owning the Patriot. This was at sustained speeds of 75 MPH on the interstate. I also noticed that the 08 Patriots on display at Camp Jeep had window stickers with 26 MPG as their highway rating, so I guess ours is never going to make 30 without a big tail wind.

Good to hear the 08's are in production! I was wondering how the Patriot would be received at gatherings, especially without the trail rating. I would imagine that there would be some Jeep snobs who don't accept it. Don't get the wrong idea about me, though- I throw rotten fruit and vegetables at Compasses when they drive down my road!

I went to Camp Jeep (my 7th) too with my FDII - yep, Patriots were few in number but saw a couple with plenty of mud on them.

I was amazed to get 27 MPG on the way back. Driving conservatively, averaging around 50-55 MPH, but with A/C on a good part of the time. Engine had over 2000 miles on it so I'm sure it's broken-in.
