Im buying a new pat this weekend... JEEP PATRIOT SPORT 4X2

Can you guys help me decide between a black one or silver one...

We had two black Subaru Legacies. VERY sharp. The only down side was the summer heat, which black sucks up. Silver will reflect the heat and keep the interior cooler. Good luck with your choice!

They say the black shows dirt quicker too and the silver kind of hides it. But if you don't mind washing your rig as often as I do then I wouldn't worry about that. I bot black, with the chrome accents it should be pretty sharp!

Color is really going to be personal choice. I bet if you polled the forum, it'd be split right down the middle between the two choices.

Now personally I chose silver (on my liberty) for the following reasons:
1) It's easy to care for
2) Dirt and swirl marks won't show
3) The color is reflective - keeps the whole vehicle cooler when under the sun
4) Silver should be easy to color match if I ever need body work
5) You can't tell the paint is faded
6) Silver has replaced white paint as the "basic" car color

Silver with tinted windows always looks good. Don't know where you live but Black and Sun don't do well together...but Black is a classic look.

The one thing about Silver vehicles...they are the hardest to spot on the road so keep some lights on while you drive.

Whatever looks best to you, black is hard to keep clean, but is sharp looking...decisions, decisions...

My question: are they identical in all other respects?

I will say this, I ordered Silver. However, Black is the toughest looking Pat all around. Now, I have a limited so the matched color bumper was the selling point for me. You are getting a sport so you don't have to worry about that. Second if you live in an area with a lot of pollen, you are gonna hate a black car. I lived in Tokyo for two years, and the Japanese would keep little dust mop's in their trunks for their black cars, because of all the pollen. So I assume that it's all down to your environment. Now I will also say this, if I ended up getting stationed somewhere cold when I leave here, I still would contemplate changing from silver to black.

To cut it all short
1) Silver is your more practical color that still looks sharp.
2) Black looks the sharpest, however, it can really be a pain.

I know I am going to say the same as above but here is my .02 anyway because I have owned both recently. ;)
Black:
Beautiful, stunning awesome (when clean)
Must wash often
shows swirl marks
hot hot hot in the summer

Silver:
Classy
doesn't show dirt or swirls (seriously, unless caked in mud the car will always look clean from 10 ft away even if it isn't)
Durability sometimes questionable (this might be fixed with the new paints, but silver is hard to formulate to last over the long haul)
Hope this helps.

My silver Liberty is 5 years old and looks good still... I wax 2x a year, but it's stored outside year round. Silver has come a long way.

Good luck and either way you will still have a vehicle that rocks!

I think the Pat looks best in Jeep Green.Black is very dufficult to maintain and silver doesn't show the contours of this Jeep that well.Tha patriot definitely looks better in darker than lighter colours.

Thanks Guys....

my 1st choice was the Khaki Metallic, 2nd was the Jeep Green Metallic....
Black and Sivler were the ones available here where I lived.. theres like around 15-20 jeep dealers in a 50 mile radius from where i am.. sadly they only have the silver and black for the specs i wanted...

yesterday (saturday) i was browsing the jeep online inventory in our area, and found a Jeep Green Color with my specs... i contacted the dealer and check if they really got the jeep green patriot.. and they did have it.. i drove 60 miles to go to the dealer's location and guess what.. i left the dalership with a brand new 08 Jeep Patriot Sport 4x2 - Jeep Green Metallic, with the specs i want.. :pepper::banana:

The new 2008 is amazing and does look great in the sun by the way... it is metallic and really sharp. The black one looks more mean as if it has more purpose or determination... this is my personal opinion. Silver is for cars and not trucks, that's what my husband would say. We wash ours once per week and its perfect... it forces us to wash it and that's not such a bad thing :O)

Good luck. We have a Patriot North so its all black bumper to bumper and it makes it look bigger then the ones with the silver on the bumpers... those things really look better on Silver... it hides them. Again personal opinion!!!

Cool Myiltog, That really looks sharp, and you were able to get it right off the dealer's yard! Congrats.

Happy trails to you!:smiley_thumbs_up:
