good deck but I think you'll find it frustrating when you use the bluetooth and cell phone features. Plus its got a slow ass start up time. Its got a voice activated ipod and cell phone function that is pretty much useless too. Way too many bugs. The navi is pretty good though and EQ function is good.

thats weird my boot up isnt that bad. i know those issues were with the 1.X firmware. Mine has the 2.0 firmware, and it takes ...30 seconds boot up. I havent tried all of the features just yet.

Look's good. Did you replace the speakers or are they still stock?
Still stock for now. To tell you the truth the stock ones are pretty good. Usually you get zero bass off of stock speakers.

It's a fantastic head unit. I have one too. Get yourself an ipod cable too. Don't worry about the people that grumble about the startup time...a machine that's that capable needs a little time to get it together. Did you include the steering wheel control interface? :smiley_thumbs_up:

Will you help me please? I found on other thread here on this site, and they installed a Pioneer Avic d3. What is the different beetween D3 and yours?
My other question is, I have a Jeep Patriot 08' and I want one of this so bad :) , so why I will need a "CHYAH05 Premium Radio Replacement Interface Chrysler"
and where can I get one? How much?

The biggest difference is the D3's Map Data is on DVD's. So you have to have the map DVD inside the head unit inorder for the GPS to Work (and the dvd drive will be constantly working which means more wear on the DVD drive). The AVIC-F700BT has the map data loaded into it. The only bad thing that i really dont care about is the AVIC-F700BT is it doesnt come with a DVD drive only a cd drive. But you can still load movies onto it via a usb memory stick, a SD Card, or a converted movie that is burnt on a CD.

The CHYAH05 is what allows you to connect into the jeep's power/speakers etc etc, WITHOUT having to cut the stock adapter out. It makes everything cleaner when hooking it up. I actually have a spare CHYAH05 because the first one that i ordered came from Canada and it was taking forever to coming in. So i ordered another one from that US and it came in much faster. If you like i can sell you my spare one.

Edit:I forgot something!

If you have steering wheel controls it seems a shame to waste them. You don't get them with every vehicle, specially ones at this price. You'll only regret it when you see others with it. Watch out for some compatibility issues with the Iphone and the pioneers system. There seems to be some problems with the new 3.0 version firmware upgrade. It's still in beta at the moment but if you've downloaded the beta because of the things promised it may already be too late. If in doubt have a look at the AVIC411.com website. :)

Sirius

Can you post a picture of the sirius menu?? I just ordered the X910BT and am debating on if i should go with XM or Sirius. I have heard the Sirius interface on the pioneer radios leave alot to be desired, but unfortunately I listen want some Sirius channels (Stern). So I either have to go with XM and pay for the best of package, or deal with the lesser interface. I just want to see how it looks to help me with the decision.

Thanks!

I have a 2008 patriot, not the compass. The install should be basically the same between the two.

The x series should ship with the 3.0 code, so hopefully i wont have to deal with the upgrade. The x series and f series seem to be the same thing except the x series ships with the new firmware and slight hardware changes. The software level is going to be the first thing I check though once i get everything installed.

My biggest concern is the physical install, but I have researched that over the past few days. The radio and wire harness should be here tomorrow so i'm going to start the wire connections on those so it should be pretty plug and play when i actually install the unit.

Was moving the environmental switches from the standard bezel to the NAV bezel a pain? Thats the only thing I havent seen commented on by anyone.

No not really, like anything you do the first time it takes forever. If i remember correctly, they wre held together by 2 or 4 screws on each cluster.

Hello all, I'm not a Patriot owner, but I am a Grand Cherokee and AVIC -F700BT owner and have some input on the Sirius menu/display.

We put this head unit in the wife's Jeep and she really enjoys it. To me the biggest disapointment is the Sirius display. This unit has a huge screen, with room for all kinds of information. The wife always makes fun of my single line display on the Alpine in my car and that it almost always never shows all the information before hitting the character limit. So she was very excited to get the AVIC and take advantage of the display space.

Unfortunately, for some reason, the display only shows one line of text, in the lower center of the left of the screen. There is a good 2 or 3 inches below that to allow addittiona information to be shown, but there is no way (that I have found at least) to get it to do so. Above that one line of information (which you can change to display Composer/Artist/Genre/Channel Number/Song Title), is a black bar that displays "Sirius Satellite Radio", then above that is another grey box with yet another Sirius logo and a "Sirius On Air" tag. What kills me is all that blank space could easily be filled with Title, Artist, Album, etc. information.

I don't have the vehicle with me, and am doing this post by memory, but I'm pretty close to actual layout. If anyone is interested I can post some pictures. I have yet to see the XM display, maybe it's better.

***Edit*** We also have a rear view camera connected to this unit and it works great. Also, Sirius parts installed with this unit are the Sirius Connect universal Tuner, and Pioneer CD-SB10.

Hey guys, quick question. Im trying to hook up some speakers into my 07 Jeep Compass but idk how to get the dash panel off (where the radio is ). As you can tell i dont really know much about cars but i have a friend that can hook them up once we figure out how to take the panels off. If someone could give me an indepth description or pictures of how to do it, it would be much appreciated.

its very easy. First pretend your sitting in the driver seat. If you look to the left of your windshield you'll see a large plastic piece that runs along the entire left side of the windshield. On this plastic piece you will see a small rectangle in the center of it. Pop the rectangle off with a flat head screw driver. Now if you look within the area where the removed plastic is, use a Phillips head screw driver and remove the screw. Next use both hands and just pull off the huge plastic piece. Do the same exact thing to the large plastic piece on the passenger side. Look at the dashboard. see how its in 2 sections. you can actually lift up on the section near the windshield. And thats it. enjoy
