If you wanted a 2009 Patriot you are probably too late

There are several other threads about the Cash for Clunkers program. Is it still funded? Also is Chrysler still offering the $3,500 discount. And then another thread about getting the dealer to discount and that some people do not want to pay MSRP (less the incentives).

From talking to a salesman I know at one of the largest Chrysler/Jeep dealers in the Metro Denver area there are no more 2009 Patriots left. The incentives only apply to vehicles currently in the dealer's inventory. So unless the programs change even 2010 models will not qualify. And they do not even expect to get any 2010 models until the end of Sep at the earliest.

This dealer is part of a large national chain and has two locations in the Denver area. At their store they have some of the large Commanders. They have two Wranglers left. No Libertys. No Patriots and no Compasses. And they don't expect any 2010 inventory until probably the end of September. So for the present time they are basically just in the used car business (his words).

He said they have checked all over and can't find any more Patriots. They even had to bring in a Liberty from New York for one customer.

Does any one know of any parts of the country that actually has any Patriots? And dealers web sites are not reliable. Even their web site still lists one 2009 Patriot and he said that he already sold that one.

Well, as someone who was (barely) able to get a Patriot delivered from Colorado to Seattle before the end of the cash for clunkers, I feel verry lucky. Sorry for anyone who couldn't get any! The reason it was driven so far is it was one of few left so you might be right. My dealer also said they wouldn't be building any more '09 models.

Damnnnnnnnn!

A few 09's have just arrived here in Sweden and no you guys have bought them all up stateside... guess the 09's will be a real rare bird over here! And on top of that, even is Jeep releases the 10's in september over there, they can't/won't sell them over here till at least jan 2010. Sweden has a law that states that the year on the name of the vehicle has to be the year it was sold... in other words, all vehicles sold in 2009 have to be listed at 09's... so if a dealer imports a 10 in september, he still has to advertise and sell it as a 09. Most american car companies are reluctant to do this.

I signed up to this forum in hope of getting some help finding a Jeep Patriot Limited. I have contacted all the dealers here in New York State and they're all gone. I even called parts of northern Pennsylvania, parts of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Mass. No luck what so ever. If anybody has any advice, please post!! Thanks.

It's official. No Patriots left in our area. The dealer I bought mine at had almost 50 a few weeks ago and zero as of today. A search of all other local dealers in a 200 mile radius shows little or nothing left in stock. A Compass or two is all that is left (including one of those black loaded 4WD Sport ones: http://hudson.lutherauto.com/Specials-New.aspx. It and a black Patriot were sitting there last night, and this morning on the way to work the Patriot had a sold sticker on it.

Here is some small-town Minnesota dealer that claims to have Patriotx left: http://www.hastingsautos.com/chrysler-new.php
http://dealers.autouplinkusa.com/v/?DealerId=6635&object=list&MAKE=Jeep&MODEL=Patriot&maxrows=12&MinYear=&MaxYear=2009&Type=N&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=&STYLE=&ExtColor=&MaxMiles=&StockNo=

And 4x4 Compass's: http://www.traildodge.com/?http://dealers.autouplinkusa.com/v/?DealerId=7657&Type=N&F=1

So start searching the small towns, going directly to the dealer web site - then call - you might get lucky as others have.

There are more than a few of each model here in the Portland/Vancouver market but the dealers are really stealers in disguise. Don't bother asking me how I know.

I do love my new 09 4WD E.

Here's a tip. My local Credit Union (CU) has a locator service. For $275 they will find exactly what you want somewhere in the country and deliver it to your door AND they claim they can beat the dealer's price. Worth a looksee. Good luck.

We dont seem to bother much about model years over here in the UK.. If the car is registered for the road in 08 its an 08 car ...09 its an 09 car. If a UK dealers recieves and sells a 2010 model in 2009 that customer is the owner of a 2009 Jeep Patriot. Not a lot changes between model years these days , New colours & an interior upgrade maybe , but not enough BIG changes to worry about. However our car licence plate gets a bit of getting used to. an 04 plate & a 54 plate are both 2004 cars ,only the 54 could have been registered in the first 3 months of 2005......Dont ask me it wasnt my Idea!!!

For anyone willing to drive, I offer this info. Wednesday when I was calling around looking for Patriots, I found one dealer that had over 20 of them. Most were base models and all were 4x2, but maybe that's what you are looking for. The dealer is "Randall Noe Chrysler Dodge" in Terrell, TX. I ended up driving 200 miles to Texarkana to get mine, and they had only 2 left on the lot when I was gone!

Delear Web sites unreliable

You really can't trust the dealer's sites if they're still showing availability. I bought mine and two weeks later it was still showing on the dealer's site, as well as auto-trader and edmunds.com. The good(or halfway decent ones) dealers update their sites frequently, but the scammers are the ones who show availabilty on their sites so they can get you to call them, or worst yet show up and try to sell you something else. I'm glad i got mine....this is a historic, epic case of "you snooze, you loose" that will be talked about for years to come.

It looks like the CARS rebate might last longer than everyone thought.

...That has some analysts wondering if the remaining $2 billion will be spent. John Wolkonowicz, an analyst at IHS Global Insight, says there could be cash unspent into November, and not all of it may be spent, period.

Now we will see if Jeep can get some Patriots in to the dealerships.

Also see this:

August 13th, 2009

The NHTSA announced today that consumers can order a new car NOT in stock in local dealer inventory and still qualify for the Cash for Clunkers rebate. The move came as the NADA and other automotive groups applied pressure on the NHTSA; dealers around the country have complained that low inventories are preventing them from meeting local demand.

The 2009s are gone. The new ruling makes it possible to order a 2010 and still get the rebate.

Pretty tough to get the 2010 Pats built in time to take advantage of the CARS 11-1-2009 deadline when the Belvidere, IL factory where they make the Compass, Patriot and Caliber is still shut down and 2010 production not scheduled to start until 9-21-2009...
Huh. The dealer I spoke to yesterday said he is getting 2010s in 2-3 weeks. Regardless, if there is a VIN in the system an order can be placed and the rebate will be valid.

"A Minnesota dealer in Waconia, MN just posted the following new Patriots on line (but they do not show on their web site inventory):"

Sorry, I checked them all out and no more Patriots are showing.

That was almost 2 weeks ago on 8-4-09??? They were there the day that I posted (I called the dealers and verified). Of course they are not there now. They were gone by the next day (I got a PM from someone who moved quickly and got one). In a followup posting later that week, I stated that the Minnesota and Western Wisconsin dealers have no 2009 Patriots left except for a few that are technically classified as "used" and do not qualify for CARS.

I did the Cash for Clunkers deal and quite possibly bought one the last Patriots within 500 miles of Central Illinois last Saturday (August 8)!!!

However, I wish I had moved on this three weeks ago when I first learned about the deals on this great vehicle but I waited till July 31 and most were already gone within 300+ miles of me.

However, I found ONE and only one about 30 miles west of St. Louis a week ago last Tuesday (August 4) and I drove there (150 miles) and arrived around 7 PM. By 8 PM when their sidewalks rolled up I had a tentative deal and drove home. We had to wait on Congress and the President signing the bill adding funds but on Friday afternoon it was approved and then I had to deal with their paperwork and business/finance person who did not help at all.

All in all, I had called more than 90 dealers by August 3 and visited another 10 before I found this one at Don Flier Motors in MO. I had either missed seeing their adv. on Google or the newspapers, or, Google didn't bring them up when I did a search for Jeep dealers in Illinois, Indianna, Missouri and Kentucky. I was jsut VERY happy to have found it and them!

Well, as of late last week (Thursday) when I drove by the Belvidere plant, there was no sign of life or impending activity. Very few employee vehicles in the parking lot, and the only finished vehicles to be seen were the three on the display in front of the plant facing I-90. Maybe Chrysler will sell those? The official line still is that production is not scheduled to start until 9-21-2009. If you find out otherwise, snap a photo and post it...

I posted this in another thread but I found a phone number and called the Belvidere plant today. I don't know who I was talking to but it went like this:

Me: "Hey I have a quick question. Are the Patriots being built right now because I heard production wasn't slated to start up until September 21st"

Him: "Um hold on"
I hear him talk to someone in the background
"Yeah we're making them"

Me: "Are they 2010s or 2009s?"

Him: "I'm not sure"

Me: "Ok well thanks"

So according to some guy at the Plant they are in production ;)

two days ago I saw a blue Pat at the jeep dealership in Mount Sterling, KY. Not sure if it's still there or not but worth checking into if anyone is interested in a blue one. It is not the dark blue, it is the electric "bright" blue and it appears to be a base model with steel wheels. Honestly, it may be a 2009 or 2010, I'm not sure but it was on the side of the lot with the new vehicles.

Chrysler short on cash for clunker trade-in vehicles
By Ed Brayton 8/18/09 12:48 AM

Chrysler’s extended production break as a result of their early summer bankruptcy proceedings is leaving their dealerships with a critical inventory shortage of high-mileage vehicles that are popular trades for the cash for clunkers program. Automotive News reports:

Chrysler’s bankruptcy, which delayed preparations for 2010 models, is leaving dealers critically short of fuel-efficient vehicles for the cash-for-clunkers sales frenzy, supplier and other sources say.

Chrysler Group’s plant in Sterling Heights, Mich., which assembles the high-mileage Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger sedans, is on extended shutdown. Chrysler’s Belvidere, Ill., plant, which assembles small crossovers, is finishing production of 2009 models on just one shift.

This week, the Belvidere plant is adding some modest overtime production, a UAW official said. The uptick is expected to do little to relieve an acute shortage of the Dodge Caliber small car and Jeep Compass and Patriot crossovers.

Meanwhile, Ford Motor Co. is cranking up production of such clunker favorites as the Ford Focus small car and Escape crossover.

Kathy Graham, a Chrysler spokeswoman, said the company is leery of overreacting to the cash-for-clunkers program.

This may prove a difficult balance for the automakers to strike. On the one hand, they need inventory to sell while the sales are there to get as a result of the cash for clunkers program. On the other hand, today’s sales may be cannibalizing next year’s sales; some analysts are downgrading their sales projections for next year even while raising them for this year.
