Hard to describe But when moving from 1st to 2nd I can hear a noise sort of like your hear when doing up a zip-tie or if you run a finger nail over the teeth of a comb. Also sometimes shifting to reverse (left side of the stick in other words). The other gears are fine.

Its very slight and sounds like coming from inside the gear boot and you need to be listening for it. Its no problem shifting and I dont feel any friction in the stick.

Its a 2011 Compass 6 speed manual and been like this since I got it few months ago.

Any ideas what this could be ? a worn bushing somewhere perhaps ? would be nice to get rid of it with an easy fix rather than replace the whole shifter.

Yep - only sold in Australia and the EU says wikipedia.

2.2 OM651 <- Mercedes Benz engine
6-speed Aisin BG6 manual

Its out of warranty so I am doing most of the work myself.

This model is a bit of a problem that falls between borders - US dealers generally dont know about it or even have spec sheets for parts whilst the non-Jeep EU dealers / shops dont want to touch it since they dont know the mechanics of it.

Any ideas on this sound ?
