you still would get the "lifetime warranty" if you buy an '07. the only thing i would suggest now is to buy an '08. probably get the same deal and it won't depreciate as much driving off the lot.

BUT with all this talk of Chrysler LLC "downsizing" their lineups, will there even BE any '09s to choose from? :icon_rolleyes:

 

I would just go ahead and buy one now. Models evolve and often have new items added or things changed. You could end up waiting for the next thing/change until the Patriot is discontiued whenever that would be.

Besides does anyone know what differences there are between the 08 and the 09.

 

No offense meant but, is your desire to wait based on sound reasoning?. I am sure the 2010 model will be even better than the 2009. The Patriot is an entry level SUV and you will be waiting a LONG time for all possible doo-dads and fixes to be incorporated. Keep in mind that by waiting, you may also lose out on some features that Jeep will delete from the current model year. We have seen that already. Waiting equals denying yourself up to 8 months of Patriot driving. But, if you must, God love ya.

Can understand being hesitant to buy first year models, but if you decide to wait, can always be waiting for something newer, faster, more reliable, etc...
Sooner you buy the jeep sooner it can be paid off, and sooner you can be looking for your next vehicle

 

Why wait? Life's short.

 

Keep in mind that the additions they make to new model years will also come with sacrifices. In order to add a new feature, one will have to be cut. Rear discs for instance...

 

Go for it, Kid. You'll love it. If you wait until they stop adding "improvements", you'll be waiting forever. I have an '07. There isn't a thing on the '08s that make me wish I'd waited.

 

I agree with the rest that at some point you're just going to have to make a decision and buy one. I think it's admirable that you're thinking it through but you will most likely make sacrifices along with the gains.

I wish I would've waited for 08 so I could have the 2nd interior dome light and the sunburst orange paint.... but I LOVE the fact my 07 has 4-wheel disc brakes and not rear drums (yuck) like the 08's do.

You are wrong about the rear brakes. Mine is an 08 and I have disk brakes all the way around.

I would think about it this way. What options do you really REALLY want? Are they on the 08s, then you are good. If they are not, then maybe wait a year or two.

 

The sooner you get it, the more time you'll have in it! Come on in, the water's fine!

 

4x2 Patriots have rear drum brakes. 4x4 have disc regardless of 07 or 08.

 

I believe the LTD has rear disc brakes, according to the spec sheet. Can't verify 'cause my rig's on a freight car someplace in the western US!

 

I weigh in with those that say do it now! We don't really know what '09 will bring (or take away!)

I had narrowed my search down to three vehicles of the same size and performance, the Saturn VUE being one of them. But, when '08s came out, they lost their square rear end shape in favor of today's cross-over appearance.

If you like the shape of the Patriot, get it now!

You are correct sir. The Limited 4x2 does have rear disc. It breaks down this way...

Sport

4x2 (regardless of package) Rear drum
4x4 (regardless of package) Rear disc

Limited

4x2 Rear disc
4x4 Rear disc

Or, more simply put... They all have rear disc EXCEPT the Sport 4x2.

 

why would they downgrade to drums if they've already got disks? that wouldve made no sense.

 

I would say the age old $$$$. I lucked out being an 07 so I have all 4 discs.

 

Nope... my bad. I didn't realize they split the brake options for the Sport vs. the Limited. Seems kinda weird to me but oh well.
