I pulled the trigger Saturday and purchased a leftover 2008 silver Patriot Sport 4x4 with Freedom Drive II off road group with skid plates, tow hooks fog lamps, height adjustable drivers seat, and CVT with off road crawl. MSRP was $20,225 and I got it for $16,300. They allowed me $1200 for the trade in on my 1999 4x4 Ranger with 144,000 miles on it. I think I got a pretty good deal and I'm pretty excited. So far it seems like a very nice vehicle and this is my first Jeep!

Phatdilf, I'm sure that your Ranger's body had lot less rust because you are in NM. The salt on these roads in Maine is murder on vehicle's bodies. It takes several years off an otherwise good truck's life.

Very quickly I am seeing $24780 USD vs $27115 CDN MSRP for
26E trim
convenience
tire and wheel

so only about a 10% premium (not the 20 - 25%) it should be based on FX rate at the moment

YMMV at dealer however we still pay approx the above amout in Canada plus the 12% (BC), although state taxes are all different as well so never sure on the "ALL IN OFF THE LOT" price

I base it on what the current US exchange rate, if we go to the bank, easily adding 27 - 30%,thus the above US Patriot will be well over $30K. US do pay way less in their Destination charges, US$600 - 650 compare to $1350 in Canada. Sales Tax are closing in fast in the US, ie WA is at 8.5%, might be able to make it up with cheaper Insurance rates.
