How to wire aftermarket stereo illumination dimmer

Hi,
I have installed and aftermarket Pioneer stereo, amps, sub, component speakers and everything is working awesome, sound is great.

Aftermarket radios include an option to dim the stereo's faceplate whenever the lights are turned on. My unit has this option but I wasnt able to find the wire, apparently there is no wire for this.

The question is:
How do you wire the illumination dimmer on an aftermarket stereo to a 2010 Jeep Patriot.

The dimmer data is sent over the CANBUS to the stock stereo. You would need to have a CANBUS adapter/harness that includes a dimming wire. When I made an attempt to install an aftermarket head unit, I have the Boston Acoustic system and used a Metra CHTO-03 harness, which had the illumination output. This may not be the case for all of the CANBUS adapters available.

There is a difference between the illumination and dimmer wire. As jlobaugh said, dimmer data is sent over the CANBUS. But if you need illumination, you can get it from the drivers side kick panel. See my other post here:

Sorry to resurrect an old post, but I wanted to thank n4cr2k for the diagram! Now I can turn on my LED accent lighting with my park lights instead of using the ACC circuit.
