Hideous? I wouldn't say that... in fact the Pat's have a fairly good reflector system for them.

I put a cheap Chinese system in because I was ordering a system for the fog lights and an extra kit to test out in the headlights was peanuts. I wanted to see if I could even make the kit play with the Pat before spending the dough on a proper projector setup. Turns out the optics work pretty well. I've aimed them down about two turns to keep them out of the eyes and mirrors of fellow drivers, and I've tested them at night with the wife driving the patriot and me in her Sunfire and I did not find them at all irritating... way better than people who drive around with misaimed halogens. In fact I get fewer 'flashes' now than I did with the stock halogens.

I think the key is to be conscientious with what you're doing, and I feel that it is possible to acceptably install HID in a Patriot. I would never install it in the Sunfire for example, because it does not have the defined beam pattern that the Patriot does and it would be a problem. Likewise, I wouldn't drive around at night with halogen high beams or fog lights shining at oncoming traffic.
