I've read in a few places that it takes 1 can per wheel to get a good lasting finish. I've never done it though... If you search for plastidip in the forums you'll find quite a few threads on this topic.

 

I've been told 2-3 cans. If you need advice go to youtube and search platsi dip. You will find your answer as well as tutorials. :smiley_thumbs_up:

 

If you've got a few dollars to spend, grab 5. When you get half way through your wheels, you'll start experimenting with other parts of your car. Like badges, etc. And if you ever need a touch up, you'll have the can ready!

It took me 1 can per wheel for a well done wheel.

 

I dipped my 18" rims on our Dodge following exact can instructions and 3 coats per rim worked out to about a half can per rim, 2 cans for 4 wheels and I had a little left over.
I bought 5 cans so I have enough back stock to do the Jeep rims now!

 

I just dipped a set of 16 inch stock rims last week. I used a sheet of sand paper to scuff up the rims a little bit before applying the dip. This is only my winter set up so I wasn't worried about hurting the cosmetic appeal of the rims if I were to ever remove the plastidip. After I scuffed the rims, it only took me 2 cans for all four rims. The dip took very well and With three coats per tire, it turned out looking better than expected
